Variations #2 and #5 are way cool looking. I tried disconnecting some stuff, and making it a *simple* instead of *surface* filter, but had no luck, it lost that look. I'm not a huge fan of embossing really, and random grainy (refracted) edges only work sometimes. Personally, I'd like to see a 2-D version of this one, with maybe a few more options/features to replace the heigth and frame stuff, and I think you'd have a faster rendering winner. Just an idea, and of course good work as it is. jffe Filter Forger |

I just updated this one with the ability to turn off height map
I left reflectivity blur and metalic alone but can change that if needed the process so you know is simple place a switch in your filter make one your height map for the other take a profile gradient and set both colors at 127.5 127.5 127.5 flat gray and plug that in as the second option you effectivly turn off height mapping on it thenits also easy enough to tie in turning off reflectivity metalic and such with the same switch Ive been adding this feature to all my latest filters since not everyone likes 3d and this way leaves the door open lets all whine for a wine port |

voldemort,
interesting. i've been using high pass for the height component and as a means to switch that off, i simply set it to 20 on the first slider and 0 on the 2nd, and that effectively turns that off. (i think those were the settings. i may have to amend that when i next look). for reflectivity and reflect blur and metallic, i simply use int sliders set to 1 to turn off those surface effects. and on the high pass for height, if you add a blur component between the high pass and the results, you can smooth out that effect for more control and a smoother look but still get the shading. Ya can't sell art to artists!

Yeah I do all that to except for controlling the particular aspects as well but if someone wants a simple on and off rather then sliders I find this is the easiest way since it gives them a nice on / off check box the other way is to use levels and a slider to adjust the controls
you just inverse the controls for the white level and max both at 50 and blend it with the result for controlling height intensity example levels---- black 0-50 white 100- 50 so if you take it to maximum it is 50 50 for both thats a nice way of controlling height severity as well lets all whine for a wine port |

I whent ahead and submitted a snippet showing detailed height control
height on / off reflectivity on /off reflect blur on / off metalic on / off sliders for all if they are on levels for controlling height and how to soften the overall height effect so hopefully this helps folks Personally since I figured this out I plan on including height controll in all of them that way the option is open because with out the check box the option isnt even available this leaves the door open to the artists choice lets all whine for a wine port |
