vikram,

i havent actually pulled up the filter yet, so i'll ask these blindly; can you change the direction of the flare and split the flaring parts up more, widen the distance between? and can you change the flare size and change the opacity?

i see you can change the color, so that's good.

Hi, Kraellin:
You can change the placement of the flare, and the flaring parts will reposition themselves automatically. I also included some controls for the size of the main glow and the brightness. Of course, you can always play around with the filter's internal workings if there's a feature I didn't think to add.
One thing I didn't do, which I probably should do, is have the flare automatically apply itself over the image. Right now, it renders on a black field. Of course, in Photoshop you can press Ctrl+Shift+F to adjust the compositing of the last filter applied, but I should combine it with the existing image using the "screen" blend mode.

ok, thanks, vikram.

you could also use the 'set alpha' component to just wipe the background and keep the flare, i would think. or maybe set alpha combined with a threshold.
