I'll rework this one a bit more drastically to make it much better. Anyone who wants to keep this version for whatever reason, be forwarned: The update is incoming! Wink

"NOISE LAB" — I like that you've labeled this special line! I like a lot of noise, from dust to scratches to specks to streaks, and hope to be using these folders to grittify, and well, "Crap up" some of my textures.
I'm enjoying using Filter Forge to create http://torley.com/textures

Apart from being little tutorials on custom noise engineering, the Noise Lab line of filters will also allow me to publish some weird noises that I haven't found any uses for yet, but that others might well find some for.

As such, it's also sort of a 'Pure Noise for Noise's sake' line... Wink

I can see this being really handy for creating metal or glass scratches! Strangely enough, when I first saw the thumbnail for the filter, I thought it was a rough sketch generator! It actually looks like one of my two-point perspective drawings at a glance ^_^

dilla, i havent looked at this one yet, so i'll ask here. does the effect invert, white scratches on a black background, and two, can you also do both black scrathes and white scratches on a transparent background? the latter two would be very useful at times. additionally, scratches on reflective surfaces often have shading/shadows. that would be a cool addition.

Currently the filter is set to generate black scratches on white ground exclusively (no transparent bg option), as I'd like to keep it simple.

I'm thinking about making a scratch effect filter though that would work on images.

No worries. I think Sjeiti pioneered the technique, if I remember correctly. I just expanded upon it and turned it into a noise generator.

Ahhh the mythical Sjeiti Big grin

It's a great little noise generator - with my use I'm using a masking to control the coverage at the moment it cuts off the scratches too uniformly, have to find a better way fade and randomize edge Smile

Not really, because those blend modes used in this filter did not change from Blend 1.005 to Blend 1.010...

It just felt super-tidy to update all my filters to the most recent blend, which I don't think will change anytime soon. Wink

Well, I just got rid of some old stuff that no one needed anyways. Besides, those filters ruined my 'Total No. of Filters to High Usage'-Ratio big-time! Wink

And there are still 2-3 filters I could get rid of...
