I love what you did with the skull and crossbones picture and the Old Map filter looks great when used in conjunction! Having it focus on converting the image into a landmass was definitely the way to go! With the Old Map filter, the only thing I could suggest is to have a random noise fade on the grid as it looks just a tad clean on a aged map, but both filters are looking great!

Nice one, Mousewrites!

Did you think about putting in a reflective water surface?

I did, but I had a boatload of trouble isolating the water area without destroying the coastline. I'm still new enough at this that I decided putting the filter up and hoping people like it was better than waiting the time it took me to figure it out and having my trial completely run out.

I'm racing the clock. Big grin (I should use that clock filter that just came out....)

Neat concept, but I think you need to invert the bumpmap -- it looks like the water is higher than the ground.

As for isolating the water, look into the threshold component. I think that will do what you need, then you can use the result for the reflectivity.

I'd LOVE to... but my 30 days ran out, and while I qualified for the trial extention, Filter Forge people could never get the code to work on my system.

My hope is that someday I have two more filters that make the hot list, and I can get the program. I have LOTS of ideas.

I love this program so much.

Come on Mousewrites, even if it means you have to reinstall windows you've got to get back to FFing.

that seems odd. how did you get the initial code to work then?

and as for the filter itself, you might take a look at preset #2. that almost looks like carpet pile, deep pile. could be another filter right there.

Heh. There's always THAT. I didn't know if doing that would work; I knew the trial would reinstall, but didn't know if it would let me upload to the same account.

::eyeballs the format HD button::

Maybe I'll be back soon.

As for WHY the code didn't work, I meant the 'trial code', not FF's software code. It kept telling me that it was invalid, even though the FF people gave me like three of them to try. I decided it was fate; I must have kicked 32 bit puppies in another life.

hmmm, odd, mousewrites. i never had any problem with updating the keycodes. often, it's just a matter of putting in or taking out a space, a hyphen or mixing an 0 (zero) with o (oh) or 1 (one) with an l (el... L ) or sometimes the codes are case-sensitive, meaning you have to use capital letters when the code is in capitals or not if the code is not. i'd try it again with all that in mind.

<snip>

Yeah, tried all that. Copied and pasted from the email they sent (all of the codes). Typed them myself... even downloaded the latest and tried it again. Still nothing. Guess I'll have to do the Big Wipe to update any filters.

I wish I had the money just to BUY the program. I wants it badly.

hmmm, very odd. did you try a complete uninstall of FF and re-install? or even better, a complete uninstall, registry cleaning and re-install?

I contacted FF tech support, and they gave me a NEW code. And it works!! (I think I had a bad hard drive sector. I uninstalled, ran a defrag/checkdisk, reinstalled, and used a new code. Something in there fixed the issue.)

I'm back, and I'm working on filters again.

What tweakage would you particularly like, Steve? I've got some ideas, but I'd love to know what you think would be good.
