Hi, Max –
I hope you don’t mind, but I downloaded your filter and played with it some, to see if I could think of anything that might help you with those bars (I didn't submit my version, though).  I noticed down at the bottom of the page, so to speak, that you had started to create some whitish bars using the 3-colour gradient, but that you hadn’t connected the output to anything.
That seemed to me to be the right direction to go, but what the bars needed was solidity. I tweaked the colour positions in the gradient to make the grey and black part of the gradient cleaner, then used Threshold to make the gradient look like bars. I blended the results (H and V bars) on Lighten, 100% to get a nice-looking grid. Then I used Threshold again to get a crisp black and white alpha mask, which I used when blending the grey bars with the rust component (Multiply, 100%). I did some other fiddling here and there, but that’s the meat and potatoes of it. 
I hope this helps! If I didn’t explain very well, I’d be happy to try again.

Ok! I've found a way to make my bars way better! There's only one thing... the bars seems to be transparent...we see the background image in tha bars... but it only does it in the preview of FilterForge.com... it doesn't do it on photoshop. well on my computer it doesn't do it! It looks more like in the image below.
So this is it! If you have any suggestions to make it better... tell me! Have fun with it!  |

ok, i'm curious, max. why didnt you do it like kits suggested. that looked pretty darn good. Ya can't sell art to artists!
