absolutely brilliant! and i agree with dilla, more of this type would be great.

just one caveat to the filter; the presets show the background as transparent but the rendering actually puts the life preserver into the background. there is a way around this without much tinkering, but i forget what it is at the moment. you can do it with a transparent background image, but seems there was another solution somehwere here on the site... i think it had to do with adding an image component. the site's running slowly right now and i'm having troulbe finding the post where this was mentioned.

I don't think there is anything to fix.

In standalone, the default image ALWAYS is the lifesaver, and consequently that is what the leaf get composited over. Wink Big grin

[Craig was just too lazy to change it... Devil Grin Angel]

Furthermore, if you added an image component, the filter would automatically become an effect filter, which it obviously isn't. Wink

dilla, there was a recent thread about this. someone else had the same thing going on and there was a change you could make so it would always show the transparencies instead of the life preserver. i'm still trying to find it Sad

Thank you!

I've made some before this, i just never added parameters to submit.
I guess I'll just leave this one the way it is (with the lifesaver) for now.

FF is pretty much the best program ever Big grin

Nice one ! Too bad this kind of things is really hard to make with FF (I looked at the filter structure : this is mad) for a result that is not fully realistic. FF is not done to do such textures. That is technically interesting but not really usable Sad

Yeah, though if i wanted to go for ultra realism i think i could have made it more so. I don't think the filter structure is too bad as far as complexity goes (yeah it's a mess). Im sure it could be optimized. Probably looks very unfriendly to others, even i have to figure out wtf i did if i havent worked on a filter like this in a while. But if that's what it takes... hehe. (I've got worse)

oh, and check out my new barber pole filter. one of the things i purposely did with that one was to put in showing how to remove the background image when you want the background to come up transparent. it's quite simple and shldnt hurt your filter.

I understand that what you probablly meant to say was this filter wasn't very useful for you, and that is fine; however, for me: extremley useful.

I think it looks sweet! Look at a small version of a tree and it looks like a feather or a leaf from a real tree. I am not saying that it is perfect, we can always improve on our filters, but I think this is a sweet filter. It is new, inventive, creative, useful, pretty, and very unique.

Do a good turn daily.

You know I had toyed with a couple of ideas on how to do something like this and my hats off to your I finally took a look at its guts -- the way you used that offset for the feathering was bloody brilliant. Sheer genious my hats of to you again and again and again Big grin

ben, i'm tempted to ask you to explore this area more. whole trees would be excellent, for example. see, when i first saw this i saw a pine leaf, not a feather. or, at least something in that genre.
