Thanx Capt'n  I actually tried to get other authors to do this, but no one would listen to me   I can't believe that no one ever did these.....because they are among the most commonly used photo effects. I started needing them for my own work, so I decided to submit them as well for others to use......
I have now have a whole series of softlens tinting effects from this.....which I will polish up and soon submit...... Steve

This one looks better on pics that aren't the life preserver ha-ha. I've got a sorta similar one I barfed together this weekend, which was kind of an accident really since I was going for a spotlight blur effect and failed miserably ha-ha.

I just made some nice enhancements to this one that you may like.....in addition to enhancing all of my other photo filters.....and just submitted them all.....so they will be in the library sometime tomorrow morning..... If you like this one, then you're going to love what I did with "Softlens - Modes".....alot of creative blurs in that one.....also will be there tomorrow morning..... Steve

I used the filter on all the pieces to the poster and I'm now doing the final touches on it. Maybe tomorrow it will be finished. The baby will be here in a bit so I won't get much done today. |

steve, you call this one 'softlens-background'. either something is slightly off with this filter or i dont understand the 'background' part... or both is this effect supposed to only affect the background? the 'softlens' part seems ok, so, i guess it's just how much of an image that is covered has me a bit confused here. Ya can't sell art to artists!

For me it covered the whole image.
Here is the original, you'll need to click on these so you can see how nicely the filter changed the pic. In the original the tiger's fur looks like plastercraft in mahy areas, with the filter it softened that problem right out. The models used are made by a variety of artists and although they look like they are almost all the same style, there are differences. Levi's pic stands out a lot in the original as just being a real pic tubed onto a graphic pic. With the filter all the models look like they are maybe by the same artist now and Levi fits in a little better.  |

It's now called "Softlens - Threshold".....I changed the name (and improved the filter beyond original recognition) after this string was started.....and unfortunately it doesn't update the string title.....which I think would be pretty easy to correct..... 
Manon, those look great!!!
You could start a business doing that type of thing, eh??? ..... 
Nice use of this filter to haze the background for depth.....very clever!!!
