Here's a somewhat simplified version of this method (tiles to circular gradient)....

BEAUTIFUL! I just submitted an update using that. How could I have forgotten about that considering my fiasco (http://www.filterforge.com/filters/518.html) with that earlier Wink

Also uber, thanks a million for that hexagon. I can't wait to check out what else you've got up your sleeve.

I just found this trick in 'Radial Blur'. I used it to update my orb filter but did not realize it was a snippet so I didn't give credit - sorry uberzev. There is really no way to give you enough credit. Thanks for the snippet KGtheway2B.

there's almost always more than one way to do things... this one uses my own routine for making circles and then borrows a bit from uber's to make it more spherical (depth) and the gradient is adjustable and invertable. i call it 'Sphere - fuzzy'.

by the way, nice job Smile

oh, and the title is a bit mis-leading... you do use a frame in yours.

'sphere - fuzzy' isnt submitted, but you can see the base routine in 'perfect arc'.

I like plugging the circular arc curve into the profile of the tiles component, like this one has, but uberzev's uses a linear curve.
I just updated Angel Balls and the reflections were much prettier with the circular arc.

Here is what I use quite a bit. I don't think it's very accurate but it sometimes it makes thing prettier than the accurate one.

I also like it because it give me that large curved surface that extends past the edges. I notice yours has that too.

The frame is for comparisons sake, or are you referring to the tiles component?
