Liquidy! OMG, another smash hit from the most antithetical name ever, "Crapadilla". I've gotta apply this to some Second Life pictures and see what transpires.
Rawn, that looks so freaky, like outta some kinda horror freakshow! I'm enjoying using Filter Forge to create http://torley.com/textures |

It's out! It's out! Happy, happy! *Downloads!* ^_^ Glad to see Shark Tank finally released in it's gone gold glory and it looks absolutely breath taking -- more less literally, ahahaha ^_~! You've outdone yourself on this filter along with Cartography Crapadilla! Outstanding work!
The only thing I could think of adding would be in tank air bubbles (You know, like from stuff drowning) -- well, that or actual sharks, ahahah, although definitely not necessary as doing something like that would be enough to cover it's own filter ^_- -Zephos |

Yeah, I'd like to see that too I'm trying to do something similar.....embed the random-shaped and elongated bubbles of my "WetGlassExtreme" to look like they have more depth inside the glass.... Did you get my email??? Steve

Yup, thought about that, but to this end my experiments with the refraction component have been unsatisfactory so far. To faithfully reproduce air bubbles underwater you'd actually have to use 2 refraction components, as the ray gets bent twice while passing the water/air and air/water boundaries. The problem is the first refraction where the ray passes from water into air: The refraction component doesn't allow for this case, where a ray passes from a material with a higher IOR to a material with a lower IOR (there is no negative range on the refraction slider). Maybe this can be faked with offsets though, I'm not sure. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid submission incentives!" ;) |

Having some luck blending bubbles with noise scratches before refraction....
Thanx for the time of day Steve

I am sorry to say this, but I have to say this filter is awful. It is too creative, too useful for different applications, too original, to ... well good. You make all my filters look like garbage.
Stop producing so many good filters. |

i know i'm going to hate myself for asking, but what is 'IOR', dilla? and if you use 16 highly technical terms to define this one, i'm going to dunk you in your own tank If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

^_^ I'd imagine it stands for Index of Refraction -- accidentally picked that up when I wrote the description about Shoujo Strands (Something about anime girl hair having a refractive index of three billion or something ^_^)... well, that or Irregular Orange Rotisserie, ahaha. Actually, it's pretty remarkable that you consider all that when creating your filters Crapadilla, quite amazing I must say!
Oh yes! Now the fun part: Index of Refraction -Zephos |

Yup. I bet there is a solution that is artistically pleasing and visually correct despite the refraction component's limitations... --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid submission incentives!" ;) |

dilla,
wouldnt there be no negative index possible since that would require that light actually speed up again? If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

If I understand correctly, a negative refraction value (on the component parameter that is, not a negative IOR) would just mean the ray gets bent the 'other' direction. If you look up the refraction indices for water > air and enter them into the formula provided on the refraction component help page, you'd end up with a negative ratio. Hence it is stated there that this case is not supported. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid submission incentives!" ;) |

I can't say it's fast though. The speed can be improved by removing the chained Refraction components -- remember, each Refraction triples the sample count, so two Refractions chained together would produce 9 outgoing samples per one incoming sample.
I'd fix this by removing one of the Refractions and combining the scratches and droplets before feeding them into the remaining Refraction. Something like this (just a rough modification, the Scratches slider should be redone): Shark Tank! VG.ffxml |
