Nice job Kraellin. Users love these paper textures and I can understand why - but there doesn't seem to be as many as there should be. I like the image option - after I thought about it. smile:)

thanks, ronviers smile:)

yes, i debated adding the image component in there. but, i have seen translucent papers like this before, even if it was quite some time back.

this is one of those filters that sat unfinished for a long while. i had intended to go buy some for a model for the filter but couldnt find any at Staples and that quite surprised me. onion skin paper used to be pretty popular.

thank you, carl smile:) and i tend to agree. sometimes 'simple' is harder to do than 'complicated'.

and thanks, steve smile:) but no 'monster' in this one smile:)

I would like to see a lengthy tutorial on this one with a component by component breakdown of theory and function. I tried to follow it but keep getting lost. I considered stealing it outright but decided that by having something this nice in one of my filters I would be caught for sure. smile;) So as usual I will just slap on another layer of Perlin and call it paper. smile:)

oh no, no lengthy tutorials! you tell me what you dont understand and i'll try to explain smile:)

basically, it's just taking the 5 color grad as a seed and running it through some mixing components. a lot of the extras at the end were put in there just to give a wide variety of looks, some of which dont really work as onion skin paper. and the alpha component is to get a bit of translucency. that's basically it. i just threw the switch in there because i liked some of the looks in the earlier components preview windows.

the 'problem' with this filter is that when you stick color controls in your controls list, you cant re-map them or limit them much. so, hitting 'next variant' is going to throw off 'onion skin' colors...a lot. i suppose that can be plus too, but wasnt intended but no way around it.

You make it sound so simple. smile:) Thanks for the explanation, I will go through it again when I get a chance.

Consider looking at this snippet. It was designed for exactly this purpose.

well, it is fairly simple. it's basically just 'noise mixing'. make some noise, mix it up, poof!

yeah, i could have left the color controls out too and just done the colors within the 5 color grad. but, i'm all for control, so i left them in.
