Great, excellent and very well done filter to make polar distortion in a very good and different way as is usual on Photoshop, much better with this one.
Not only can be used for making small planets also can be used to creat different kind of image compositions preparing carefully the source image and nothing else. |

Where does the source from the above photos come from ?
Well, it is from a concert photo I have found on internet, here below is the original source photo |

VERY IMPORTANT WHEN USING THIS FILTER
Please be aware that when using this filter is VERY IMPORTANT the orientation of the photo you are going to use !!! Look at the above concert photo, ALL is straight and have a horizontal layout, so with this kind of photos is the best ones to get the best from this filters. Also is the same for Skylines landscapes of cities. USE PHOTOS THAT ARE HORIZONTAL Like the concert above or also this examples
AVOID USING VERTICAL PHOTOS - ROTATE THEM TO HORIZONTAL TO USE You will get very bad results from VERTICAL oriented photos, and will not work right. Please if you have vertical photos, rotate them 90ยบ to make them horizontal and then you can use this filter. NOT RECOMMENDED HORIZONTAL PHOTOS

As said above I had this source photo as a vertical photo originally, but then I rotated it and could be able to use it to create the above ring of fire, that would not be possible if the photo is not horizontal.
This excellent fire photo is taken from the very high quality and great photos found in the huge collection of www.cgtextures.com This one here is a composition collage I have made from 4 different photos joined toghether. Here is the original source photo |

PROBLEM WITH THIS FILTER MAKING LONG HORIZONTAL PHOTOS ???
I have put ALSO this long fire image because I have seen that there is probably an error in calculation with this filter when using large horizontal photos as the one above of fire. Why I say this ? Because as you can see in the ring of fire above the center part is compressed and tight and does not follow the same conversion ratio as on the sides. Photoshop polar conversion makes it better (only in this kind of photos, on lots other is much worse than this filter) Here below is the result from Photoshop |

SpaceRay: Thank you so much for the extra examples and very useful tips!
Impossible seeing all this and not being tempted to use this magnificent filter! ![]() "From the moment we are born, we start being filtered..." |

BUT really I am cheating here I mean that I added some more space to the original horizontal photo above as you can see in the screenshot here below SO this is the real image I have used to get good result on photoshop and NOT the original thin and long fire photo which gives bad result in photoshop too. |

And perhaps you might think, well, and what happens if you use THIS NEW PHOTO with canvas enlarged inside this Filter Forge Filter ?
Well you can see for yourself here below, for this one I have used the image that is on the post just here above |
|

SpaceRay
|
BUT WAIT THIS IS NOT ALL !!!
If you go to the filter forge settings tab in this filter and put Profile=1 Size =0 Uncheck invert AND with these settings you will get something that is VERY SIMILAR to the Photoshop good result, BUT SURPRISINGLY MUCH SMALLER
I wonder WHY is this happening in this filter ? Please see the result here below |

Here I put a polar distortion using this great filter from CFandM with one of the skyline horizontal photos I have just put in the above posts and is something that this filter makes better than Photoshop |

And to show how much better this filter is than the one of photoshop, please see the result that could get IF you enlarge the canvas to use it in photoshop polar coordinates filter.
Which one you like best ? I personally prefer MUCH better the one from CFandM |

And one last comparison to show ALSO how much better is this filter VS the Polar Coordinates from Photoshop
You can see the bad result that you can get with Photoshop shown here below when compared to the cleaner and less distorted version of CFandM filter in the next post PHOTOSHOP VERSION HERE |
