Actually, i was thinking more on the lines of "reflections" by the foil surrounding the top and in-sides of the light. Is this any more convincing? Otherwise, I'm not sure what else to do with this filter. ![]() "Time flies like an arrow; Fruit flies like a banana." -Groucho Marx |

More importantly, I have updates to two submitted filters, one of them my own, the other not.
This is an update to my 3d landscape filter (which I might actually submit!). Previously, I had improved the clouds by adding an additional darker shade in the dense centers of the clouds. Now, I have changed the clouds completely. They now have 3 colors (two have controls, the middle one a blend of the two), and different controls (fuzziness and cloud cover). Since this allows for more stormy skies, I thought it would be nice to add some rain, courtesy of Lucato from Landscape LR. ![]() "Time flies like an arrow; Fruit flies like a banana." -Groucho Marx |

And I think I'm getting too fast at this. I already have two new versions of my water caustics. Here's one on a simple sand background I whipped up in FF with depth and highlight control. I also have a phase control which should lead to animated water caustics ![]() "Time flies like an arrow; Fruit flies like a banana." -Groucho Marx |

On the contrary, I don't think the carpet looks better. The noise is good, but you lost great detail with the blur. Albeit the speed-up, which is great, I think it should be placed further back in the filter tree, and get some of the actual carpet back. Roses are #FF0000

yes, the carpet looks better. nice job. i see an EP coming on that one.
and the caustics are looking good, albeit a little colorless, but ok. the third one i have a bit of trouble with the fact that there are two kinds of ripples/waves going on there. the white ripples dont see to work right with the others for some reason, though, it's still pretty convincing. also, a question on the caustic ones, is it possible to do the water effect without the background effect? i mean, could we import our own background for these and would they work the same way? If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Thanks all for the input.
I happen to like them both. The first has more detail, but the second looks more soft, which is good for carpets. I tried moving the blur back, but no matter where else I put it, the results weren't that great. The blur amount can be adjusted, but it seems that there is no true middle ground between AA and blur.
I already have examples of that, with the life saver and as mods of other filters. Because I have several versions of water filters, I might eventually submit one. I'm not sure if I want to "give up" the carpet just yet. How about this oily one: Larger "small" waves, less frequent "thin" waves, and subtle spectra. ![]() "Time flies like an arrow; Fruit flies like a banana." -Groucho Marx |

I like it, the only thing on the town one is the orange edge on the roofs is a little to harsh, a better build up blend over the entire roofs would give it a more natural look |

I've already downloaded it and love it.
Yeah, the one problem with my filter right now is the lack of color. I tried boosting the saturation at the end to make the sky bluer (w/o changing the paper color), but that ended up making the roofs unproportionally oversaturated. I'll see what I can do. nice, indigo.
i did a search on google images for 'charcoal painting'. i was a bit surprised by what i found; one, that there are so many, and two, that there are so many different types. i also found that you have to be careful in studying charcoal images because there are a lot of digital artists doing 'charcoal' in photoshop or paint shop pro and such, so if you want to see real charcoals you have to be a bit careful. anyways, i like both your methods. and, i'd love to see a bit of the sketch lines in some of these, not that that's necessarily required for 'charcoal', but it might help sell it in some cases.
