HOW TO BACKUP YOUR FILTERS ?
THIS IS FOR WINDOWS VERSION (For MacOS Version please see next post) This is a short guide to be able to make a backup copy for all your FF filters that you have downloaded to the FF library and you can have a copy if your FF instalation or Windows is broken and need to reinstall, of for security or whatever. Well this is easy to make if you know how write %APPDATA% in the search field of the start menu in Windows 7 and look for the Filter forge folders you have installed and look for the system folder and then to the Library OR write the direct link %APPDATA%\Filter Forge\System\Library (by default it is C:\Documents and Se ttings\YourUserName\Application Data\Filter Forge\System) VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU HAVE RENAMED THE FILTER FORGE FOLDER But if you have renamed the folder installation when installing Filter forge then you have to change the "filter forge" to the new name you have put. %APPDATA%\Filter Forge new name\System\Library For example I have %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 2\System\Library %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 3\System\Library |

You will hardly get our moderators to use a Mac Concerning your above post, please note that: - %APPDATA% resolves to different path on different OS versions, in Win7 its is somewhere in C:\Users\ - mind the version suffix when speaking of direct links. For Filter Forge 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 it will be %APPDATA%\Filter Forge\System\Library, %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 2\System\Library and %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 3\System\Library , respectively. |

Thanks very much GMM for the link to the Wiki, I did not know that the answer was there.
I have found there something very good and that IS MUCH BETTER AND EASIER in Windows to find and open very quicly the folder that contains the FF filters
This is true !!! I did not know this way, I have opened Filter Forge, and then select of the filters fr om the library in window in the left panel and then press Ctrl + L and very quickly it opens the folder containign the filters !!! This is much better in my opinion than the solution I have put to write %APPDATA% in the windows search. AND MORE, this way it will open the right folder so you do not have to care and see if it is FF 1, FF 2 or FF3. Excellent. |

I think this is is one of the most asked questions when you want to backup the filters that is why I have made this thread after seeing lots of post and threads asking for this
Although I think that is better explained in the other thread that is shown in the post above this. If you find the %% intimidating, there is a much easier way to find the filters of filter forge without doing this The easiest way is to open Filter Forge, go to the fiter menu at the left, and then select a filter in the filter list and press Ctrl+L. After pressing Ctrl + L a new window will open showing you ALL the filters you have, and then you can copy them all and make a backup. This does NOT include the "my filters" folder or any of the "my presets" you may have. |

When I can I will make a newer thread to arrange, filter and clean all the information into one only thread so is more clear to follow and use
Also there is another thread that I want to mix with this one, and is the one below Where are the downloaded Filter Forge filters located physically? |

I don't know if you already mentioned this, but you can locate filters by right-clicking on a filter and telling it to locate file. Do this for one regular filter and one "my filters" filter and you will see the folders that store both kinds. | |||||||
