i normally use psp 10, but i still have psp 9 installed as well and just tried it on my system. works fine for me. i'm running an intel 1.7 ghz machine, windows xp home with SP 2 installed.
did it crash on loading or crash when you applied the filter?

 Hate to state something that might be considered basic/simple, but I've got that sort of error message in the past (not FF), from various versions of PSP, when I've forgotten to include the plug-in directory/folder (containing the plug that is returning the error message), in PSP's Folder Locations - in preferences.
I'll check it tomorrow myself (have to reload PSP 9), but just thought it might be something simple/easy to fix.
