i like this one! the flowers, the rocks... very nicely done! and i kind of like the flowers because they are a bit irregular and not just clones of each other.

Thanks!

Now, we descend further yet, into the lair of the earthworm. I've shown this filter before from the V2 beta days, but I've since updated it. It uses artificial bump created by the "derivative" component.

Thanks Craig and Carl.

And I have submitted the artificial bump as a snippet. Instead of the LS, I used a cell noise in the soil example.

LS? what is LS? i do wish folks would define abbreviations the first time they're used in a post.

Yep, Craig, all FF (obviously the ground texture is Corvus').

Another drawing filter. There's no way I could have done this during math class. Especially not without Mike's "This Way" filter to guide my strokes.

It's easy, Craig. The arrows are just a free rectangle and polygon plugged into the bomber as a "particle", they're not part of all the crazy rotation algorithms. Just plug in something different for "particle 1".

I use Mike's filter because it makes the lines curve to the image really well.

Thanks Carl. I'll experiment with the colors.

Here's another specialized filter, based on the cover of Porcupine Tree's album Deadwing.

this is like 95% there. it's still too perlin for me. close, but needs to lose that last bit of 'perlin' to be truly convincing.

Here's another charcoal-like filter. I'm not trying to replace charcoal drawings (I could try my own if I wanted to), and so my filter doesn't resemble them, but only suggests them if you really want to make the connection.

But anyway, I used a feathered selection, which this filter is designed for, and made just a little touch-up with the stamp tool to get the final image.

Let me give another example: Same filter, but a close-up image instead. Note most of the image is in the selection, except for the top-left and top-right.

A similar filter; both the one above and this sample are mods of my fantastic and wonderful Extra Edges filter. I suppose it resembles spray paint in a way.

Earth. The curvature is made via offsets like in Orteil's new filter (except updated for V2), and the shadow is taken from here.

A green grassy field. Although this method of perspective appears fragmented (especially in the foreground), it's much nicer than simply using a flat plane.

The grass is an off-shoot of an older version of my more realistic grass filter.

Just to tease you, I'll show you some new added features to the mud cracks filter.

First, I changed the perspective a little to simulate an explosion towards the viewer (I have an implosion mode as well). Second, I've added a metallic rendering mode (you can still make the above pic if you like).

Scratch the old earth; I made a new one. 'Cause I'm "godly" at FF. OK that's the worst one yet. smile;)

Anyway, it now uses my special clouds and a derivative for surface texture and a slight glare.

WOW!! The mud cracks filter looks very interesting and beautiful, and looks realistic.

From the CorvusCroax image above, it seems that the lifesaver was buried inside the mud and now it is flying upward and breaking all the mud smile:D Very good effect.

The second image is like a black hole sucking down the mud smile:D The black could be replaced after with another image in the background, perhaps the new earth that Indigo Ray have done or any lava texture or water ot ice. smile:D

Craig, I think you're right about the shadows on the earth pic, especially with the clouds. I'll try to re-do that part.

Anyway, Ron's new nebula filter got me thinking about them again, and an idea sparked. I took one of Uberzev's filters, "fumes", found somewhere hidden in these forums, added different things to it, and got this 10-minute render:

Morgan, thank you for the kind words. Often when I create filters, I get a cool result, but I run into trouble when trying to add controls to allow for a range of cool results. And sometimes the result is nice but still needs some work, from my perspective at least. Sometimes things get busy and I just forget. But I will be submitting more filters. I'll take a look at the three you mentioned and see what I can do.
