I was unable to update Filter Forge from within the application. I get a unable to update install due to a "file in use error"...it was one of the x86.exes. This was from the standalone version of Filter Forge not the plug-in. I restarted Windows XP thinking this would clear the "file in use" error. When lauching Filter Forge after restart, I got this error:

<img src="http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/6342/errormessagecopyen6.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" />

<class XFW::IO::FileNotFound> File 'C:\Program Files\Filter Forge\Resources\CurvePresets.xml' not found.

Luckily, I was able to update by downloading the setup file and installing over the current application as the above error would not allow Filter Forge to open.

I submitted a bug report today but thought I'd post here also. BTW, I got the same type of error when I attempted to update the Beta to 1.07. I uninstalled the Beta before installing the full version so never got the bug report form.

Thanks. I'm just glad there was a setup exe to download.

Bella wrote me a month ago and said the programmers couln't figure out how the curves .xml could have been deleted or moved which would trigger the error.

I can only guess that when I cancelled the installation due to the "x86.exe file in use error" maybe I didn't give Windows XP enough time to complete the rollback operation before rebooting the computer.
