Oh, I see what you're going for ... that's going to be a lot harder than a spirograph... maybe not impossible, though.

I think:
a) it would mainly depend on the kind of input you are trying to start with.
b) the kind of 'UV mapping' you are trying to make. It's easy to make a torus which just drapes a grid over it. Much more difficult to show in in some kind of 3d view.
c) making it trully see - through means you'll probably need to use scripting.

WOW!! What started with some simple shapes now it´s getting much better and more complex, and MORE beautiful smile:)

Congratulations Ghislaine for this great spirographs variations and versions.

ALSO want to give the thanks to Carl and CorvusCroax for helping making this filters better and have added their knowledge to it.

Like this from V3 and also the ones from V4. Well done!

Do you mean making 3D spirographs ?
Would be possible to make things like the example you have put here in FF?

If the colors distract you can always make it black and white, so I personally think that this is no problem

That landscape mesh example should be possible in FF. It's pretty much the same as emme's 2.5D terrain filter, but with a mesh on the height map.
It's script heavy though, so I don't know how to do it. smile;)

Spaceray, all my 5 GF Spirographs filters are created by myself without exterior help.
Carl and Corvus was helpful on a wireframe filter. And one of these days I will try their technics. My spirographs filters was already created. But I have decided to post some images because I have, just for the v4 around 60 variations and before to submit the filter, I have to delete 40 variations. So the next images will not come with the filter.
And you will see just few possibilities that offers this version 4.

Yes I have started all my spirographs with simpler geometry, but in the future, I will use a simple section of noise.

And thanks to all for your appreciation. This encourage me to create more stuff.

All nextimages are created with the same colors for this reason : we can see much better the possibilities.

GF Spirograms v4 is uploaded. It was very hard to to make my choice for the variations. I had to delete 32 variations. I post some more images that you will not find in the previews but by playing with the settings, you will be able to create them.
