I imagine it's a marketing trick, hoping people will spend $$$ on the additional content. The software itself is probably pirated to h ell as it is. smile:|

DAZ does indeed have quite some reputation for pushing the additional content to you. But quite honestly the programs they're offering for free aren't bad at all. While the "hobbyist" feel sticks around with these programs, the functionality of programs like Hexagon are close to what's offered in Maya to a degree.

By the way, the first 3D program I ever touched was Bryce smile:)

glad to see it still kicking strong.

Bryce was far from the first 3D program I ever used, but when it came out it was SO much more advanced than the rest. First time I saw it I was thinking NO WAY!

I have been in the DAZ website since 2007. Although JUST NOW since last November I have began to learn how to make things in 3D (I had not had time before and also my computer was very old, and Is just now that I got a more powerful computer to do 3D)

I am a DAZ platinum member club since two years ago, and I recommend it totally and absolutely, because you will SAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF $$$$$$.

I was going to put this news here, but I did not know if it would be useful, sorry that I thought wrong.

There is one very good reason, why DAZ have just made it available for free in the beginning of february, and is because in March is the Greatest and Biggest SALE AND DISCOUNTS MONTH that each each is made and is called MARCH MADNESS, and they have between 40 to 70% discount, and sometimes on some very selected things are even 95% discount. And also each day they make new product offerings specially made for this SALE MONTH FESTIVAL.

They are giving all this $700 software for free for you motivate and to buy all the additional resources that they sell in the 3D Store.

For learning how to use this, there are lots of video tutorials in You tube from DAZ, and LOTS of help inside the forums.

By the way for new users DAZ = Digital Art Zone

I am a real beginner on this too and know only a very few basic things, but if you want you can ask me, although probably is better on the DAZ Forum.

If you do not want to buy, There are MANY free 3D models on the DAZ website and all over internet to use with the DAZ 3D products.

Main sources for 3D models (both free and paid) are

www.runtimedna.com

www.contentparadise.com

and many others more over internet.

ALSO there are some software converters to be able to make compatible some 3D models between the different softwares available.

There is still 14 days left to get this software for FREE then probably will go up again to the real price, so do not miss it, EVEN if you are NOT interest in 3D right now, you could register in the DAZ website and get it, you DO NOT HAVE TO DOWNLOAD IT, so it will be available for you in your account if you decide to use it.

The account does not expire and you can keep it there until needed.

ALSO even is good if you are not going to use it now, BECAUSE WHAT IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT is that you are not only getting the software for free, YOU ARE GETTING AN OFFICIAL SERIAL NUMBER, so if in the future there is the release of DAZ Studio 5, it will be much cheaper for you because you already own the serial number for version 4.

So this is why I tell you that even if you do not have intention to to 3D now, but could perhaps in the future. this would be a good moment to get this free offer
