Most filters that involve movement make use of the Offset component in some fashion, skewing an image or shape is no different.
In its simplest form one method for accomplishing this task consists of 3 components. A Profile Gradient, Offset, and an Image, component....
Looking at the example above the Profile Gradient is connected to the Percentage input on the Offset component. The first effect shows the image being skewed on the
horizontal plane and the second effect the image is skewed on the vertical plane. When creating your skew effect the gradient connected to the percentage input affects what part
of the image or connected source is skewed. Black will hold or pin the image in place while the white is the point at which the image moves the most. The colors in between the
black and white determine on how far the image moves according to the shade of gray....This is why the Profile Gradient gives us a nice lean when skewing the image.....
After connecting all the necessary components, controlling the amount of the effect is done via the "Offset H and Offset V"....
While the above is limited to horizontal and vertical there is room for experimentation. Such as in the example above..... Offsets are connected and a StepCurve has been added...
When constructing your skewing effect keep in mind that the gradients are for square images only. To correct this or better yet to use this effect on non-square images construct the filter using Threedees very handy Proportional Gradient...
Below is an example of the differences when using a non-square image....
The top images resulting image has a vertical line through it..This is the
result when using the gradient with non-square images...The bottom image
makes use of the Proportional Gradient....
