Filter Details
Description
This filter applies a range of stylised effects to a photo, from pale and softly focused to dark and gritty. It's really intended for portraits or isolated images, but I'm sure you could find all kinds of applications for it. ^_^
I think the controls are pretty self-explanatory and behave pretty predictably in their middle ranges. Things get a little more chaotic when you push some of the controls – especially "Effect Strength" and "Detail Sharpen" with the tonal sliders – and can result in some pretty interesting and/ or bizarre effects. The tonal range of the original can also play a big part in the final image.
Play with the presets and see what you can do. Have fun!
Acknowledgments: This began as a translation of a tutorial by Scott Kelby and Felix Nelson in the July, 2007 issue of _Photoshop User_, but I've expanded, tweaked, and adapted it to my own nefarious purposes. Bwah-hah-hah-hah!
