Hi everyone I've been really enjoying working with Filter Forge and I have been exploring the bomber but I haven't quite got the depth map figured out how can I use this to give my filter more realistic depth? I've used 3 colour controls to bring images into the filter and I'd like to have the images (I'm just using a quick illustration of an acorn for experimenting with ) throw shadows and have more depth. So far I have tried connecting a couple of different gradients to the depth map with no success.

Hey angelize.
So, the bomber makes lots of copies of a particle. The "depth map" tells the bomber which copies go on top, and which go underneath. If you want to make an accurate drop shadow, you need to use the smudge component. Here, check out this template I made: Bomber Depth Map_Shadows.ffxml |

Thank You Indigo Ray. I think I get the idea looking at your template I see that one bomber provides the particles and the other the shadows. I was trying to do it all in one bomber.

Thanks very much Indigo Ray for showing this as I have never understood and knew how to use the depth map and depth sorting of the bomber and this that you have shown is a very good, interesting and useful example well done, and adding shadows too
![]() ![]() I have been much more interested now in these settings since I have seen what can be really be done with the depth map with the amazing and awesome Buttons Image by ThreeDee filter shown here above |
