There might be some in the library that has this look but I do not remember off hand...But I'll see what I can do with it..Looks like it might be fun..

That's not a great example as it is itself a modern recreation of a pin up done with photoshop.
Pinup are usually posters of airbrush paintings based on photos, so it's a kind of soft focus plus posterize. Also, the colour is usually more vivid. Here's a good page showing pinups and the photos they are based on. http://ulkacurl.livejournal.com/212899.html Release the Mongoose! |

I did find some but that link is much better then some examples that I found...Originals and not re-creations..

Here it is again...This one is updated and I think ready to submit.Let me know how it works for you....This is the pin-ups that are re-printed and not original which is another filter altogether.....

Perhaps it needs more contrast or sharpening?
As it looks like soft blured, and in the link by Mongoose King they look sharp. |

Hmmm, seems a bit 'glowy' to me when you use it on that image, not quite right, doesn't look like a printed poster to me.

Had a ponder and what I think the thing is, they seem to have sharp edges, but soft within the edges.
Has anyone had a play with smart blur or surface blur in photoshop? that's the kind of effect needed.. sort of. .. Maybe using edge detect to stop area bleeding into each other at the edge during blur somehow.. Release the Mongoose! |

Guess I'll need to do some more work..
 Thats the trouble sometimes on some filters, it looks good with one image then on another image it does not look so good...Some of the images that I was using for tests looked really good. They also had a white background...So back to the drawing board.. Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

Well there are just some Photoshop tutorials that cannot be accomplished in Filter Forge...There are always some missing elements between the two...With this filter the missing element is some image adjustments that need to be made before even applying the effect...I am trying to work those out......Here are some samples of before and after the effect is applied...Not all images work so I have to find a happy medium that will work...

Nice examples there CF!
Too bad that, as you say, sometimes it works wonders on the images you try, and then not so well with others. Maybe add a few controls to make it more customizebale for different input images. |

I'll probably finish up this filter on the weekend and submit it ...I still cannot get it to work correctly with that image Hape...It may be to dark of a skin tone to process correctly...I now have split some channels for editing with curves..Another example if the image is set-up before hand...

hehe Thanks Morgantao..It looks like this is going to be a specific type of image filter...Kinda like the anaglyph filters..Even in that link to the tutorial that Hape posted these are the images that are used.....
