Thanks Steve - are you a photographer or do you see it more as a special effects filter? It expect that it would require a professional photographer, or at least an expert photographer, to use it for retouching but it has potential for other things as well.

You may want to look at my divide into bands snippet for your glass if you do not already do that - although you probably already do. I am going to release my first glass filter tomorrow based on feeding bands back on the image but it looks very unlike your glass.

Thanks for checking it out smile:D

Hi Persidio - really nice to hear from you. smile:D smile:D This filter is a little trickier to use than the Lab Enhance filter. Here is a tutorial written by ByRo, the person responsible for the entire concept.

http://retouchpro.com/tutorials/?m=show&id=213

The filter does all the tricky parts for you. Just use trial and error to isolate the parts of the image you want removed by selecting the band and band width; then try blend modes 10, 11, 12 or 14 (with or without invert), overlay, hard light, soft light, linear light respectively, to determine how much of the band of frequencies you want to zero out.
You can also use it for sharpening or softening, hue, contrast, saturation and special effects. It's a very powerful filter but I'm afraid it is just too darn hard to use. If you have any questions or problems using it be sure to contact me.

Nope none of the monkeys~

Depends what mood I'm in... this time I took mostly people pics at the zoo... ((I like to take pictures of family and friends at the zoo)).

and... what is it about wateralls that always makes me snap a shot?

Anyway... here is preset 20 with a waterfall shot from the Zoo~ smile;)

P.S. I made a filter for skin softening that I've been thinking of uploading, still working on it.

Image compressed for loading size smile;) ... click to view larger image...

I "was" a traditional photographer.....recently sold all camera equipment.....now working all digital except for having digital images reproduced on cybachrome.....

I see myself using this one in the "photo" prep realm before applying other effects.....but I can also see using it as a straight effect.....so both smile:)

Wow! Soo glowy - it looks radioactive. smile8)

This filter benefits from having an expert at the wheel. Very nice - thank for posting.

I googled cybachrome but i'm not sure - is that some kind of wet darkroom process?

Do you have a dSLR? I have one; it's what led me into graphics. I have never worked with a film camera smile:| I wish I had. And I still have never printed anything. smile:?:

I just submitted my glass filter. It should post tomorrow. Our styles are strikingly different.

Your welcome smile:)

Cybachrome is a special type of high-end printing (photo paper and chemical print process) from slide film that yields the deepest and richest color imaginable.....

I'm holding off on buying a new digital camera until megapixels have totally left film grain in the dust.....and besides, I already have tons of images to work with.....or should I say "digitally manipulate" into art smile;) smile:)

ronviers wrote:

same as your dSLR without all the extra expenses and hassles.....and working in a darkroom totally sux, unhealthy breathing the chemicals, and absorbes way too much of your time. I did it for years.....and digital is an absolute godsend for time, money, efficiency, and control.....

As far as I'm concerned, the film camera is now totally obsolete.....like a horse-drawn buggy smile;) smile:D LOL....

you might want to look again, steve. there's a new batch out... even more megapixels.

i've still got my old Canon F1 from back in the 70's, but i rarely use it any more.

Yeah, I've been keeping a close eye on it.....up to 20-24 with larger on the way.....very expensive, but will come down. I'm also waiting for more "standardization" between lenses.....right now, they're all over the map and still very proprietary.....

ronviers wrote:

That's what costs the big $$$$$.....quality lenses are everything.....the camera body is quite neglegible in comparison to them....

I will still reply to comments but I whatever I decide to do next I will probably put a lot of effort into. Plus I have a two hour per day daily stretch routine I have been neglecting quite a bit. If I am going to make a full recovery, which I am, then that will not do. It really is for the best smile:) smile:) smile:)

Yep~ I'm thinking 3D...

Let me know what you try and I may try it too~

Been thinking about...

Vue 6 Easle (((This is most likely the one I'll be going with)) ((takes Poser imports so I'd have to go with Poser http://www.e-frontier.com/ I'll need demos though... smile:cry: ))

http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_6_easel/ <<----- The one that I want

But I also think about these ones...

Vue Espirit
http://www.e-onsoftware.com/

Lightwave (wondering if they have a demo)
http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/

and they have a version for Photoshop CS
http://www.newtek.com/rendition/index.php

LightWave Gallery
http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/gallery/main.php

http://www.dvwarehouse.com/categories...WAod-we5mQ

Hoping the 3D artists step up and offer us some links~ smile:D

How about you? Which ones are thinking about?

You know, I keep hearing about Poser, Poser this and Poser that, I'm at the very least take a close look at Poser - I don't even know what it does. smile:?: smile:?:

And your point about Lightwave being integrated into CS3 is an excellent one. I don't want to let my PS skills slip - same with AI.

Later today I will look into Poser and Lightwave and check for a trial program. I will have to go do more waiting in a bit but it shouldn't take that long - this time I will take a book.

Thanks for all the great advice! smile:D

Well let's face it Ron... graphics programs can be frustrating in the first year... and can be tough when learning. (After that it's like riding a bike).

I'd be brand new to Poser to... and... misery loves company... LOL.. so if you do try Poser ... let me know and I'll try it too. I need a demo... they have a demo right? (((Tens years in 2D but I'm a 3D dummy,,, LOL)))

Lightwave is tempting... YOUZA! But I want Vue Easle so bad... and Vue intergrates with Poser from what I understand...

Quote

Oh please email or post the link to the demo. I'll try to find the demos too. Time for me to jump out of the threads too... updating condensation... and have things to do around the here ect,... was great chatting with you!!!! BBL

"Poser is a 3D rendering and animation software program optimized for models that depict the human figure in three-dimensional form."

"Maya is a popular, proprietary integrated node-based 3D software suite, evolved from Alias PowerAnimator. The software is released in two versions: Maya Complete (the less powerful package) and Maya Unlimited."

"Maya Personal Learning Edition (PLE) is available at no cost for non-commercial use, although rendered images are watermarked."

It would be nice to know both Maya and Poser. It looks like to make movies and games both would be necessary. My initial impressions are that without Maya, or something like it, the Poser output will have no environment to exist in.
I really like the idea of a watermarked version of Maya for free.
I would like to make a dinosaur. smile:)
