Important note! (As it says on the filter description): When you import large images, the cross hatch may appear a bit too thick on your final output. This is because gradients scale as well... and it's just how FilterForge works. So I've provided a slider "hatch density" which will add more detail, and make those lines slightly thinner with large images. Also, the scale parameter works really nicely as well. Of course, I suggest you experiment first! smile:)

WOW! you finally have made it available, thanks really very much for having shared this wondeful filter in the FF library and make it well and it has some good amount of settings to have different variations and control over the result and that you can have the black outlines in varying widths or take it out nearly completely if needed.

I have to say that I have been trying to make since some time ago a filter inspired in the Jasper Johns cross hatching paintings as seen in the link, but had bad success and now with this filter that is MUCH better than what I tried, I think I will be able to do it thanks to you.

Here is one abstract design I made

Here is the same as the above but in closer view and higher resolution to see better the beautiful and well done texture made by this awesome filter

The shading value above and here is 96 so you can have more powerful and solid colors picked up from the source image.

One thing I have noticed from the tests I have done with this filter, is that it does not like at all any part of the source image that may be white or slighty white, or even too light, as it will not be crosshatched. Perhaps I am doing something wrong or missing something, will have to see more.

And for the last test from now I have used a tulip and made different settings and changing the presets, modifying the shading, or rising or lowering the outlines or removing it.

SpaceRay, if anything share how you attempted what you were trying. This might be helpful getting you on track with making filters smile:p

I like this filter and some other drawing filters here on FF. I've been thinking they may be useful to make web comics or instructional bits turning photos into hand drawn art. Well done.
