I have found an example showing something like this, although it has also hexagonal frames

It uses some kind of random rotations inside each hexagon that is made with lines

Note: this is not a suggestion for a variation of the filter, just only an example of what can be made

Oh that's actually a really neat suggestion. The grid-making part just needs to be compatible with uber's way of constructing the hexagon filling method.

Like much this filter and is very good and artistic effect to be able to put different kind of images in different hexagons joined together, great idea

i wonder if it would be possible to make the same with other shapes, like for example a square, a triangle (or a square divided in two triangles) or a circle instead of the hexagon, I mean as alternative

i have tried myself to do it but do not understand and know how is the technique behind this and do not know how to make that the polygon component or other possible way could be used to replace the hexagon shapes

Like the hexagon frames example, it separates them, maybe it could be done with this filter very well done by ThreeDee

Good idea, I have not though about this and now thinking about it could be good, although I have tried already some time ago to modify the hexagons (not into other shapes) or the effects and after some different experiments I leaved it as did not know how it works, so I can´t help
