yeah, that's the original snippet from the monster that started all this. i had teased about it but never posted it. so, that's what this one is. simple. 4 components (though i did add a levels for the filter).
one of those presets, i think it was 3 or 4, on my computer before submitting this, had a real muscle without skin look. it looks different here now, but might make a good idea for another filter.
and nice pics, steve If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

well, i'm toying with more, but nothing in the immediate future forseen. keep an eye on the user gallery, 'the monster' thread. that one is still growing and may spawn some more little beasties
and thanks If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

After seeing (not reading) the monster thread I assumed this filter would have dozens of components and be very slow - you can imagine my surprise to see how non-monstrous it is internally. Nice filter but I guess I need to brave the monster thread to fully appreciate it. @ronviers

ok, those last two comments are based on the update (i think). this is an unruly filter and a lot of the effect depends on the original image. the controls are somewhat vague and take some getting used to. and, i make no claims as to usefulness.
was that a bit of disappointment, foxxee? it's ok if it is. let me know what you were expecting and what you think it needs or needs to have removed. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

this is a refraction filter and refraction can do strange things. this is exactly the same preset as the last image. but, i'm guessing you wouldnt think so to look at it. the original image makes all the difference in this type of refraction fitler and in the refraction process. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

A surprise to me that I could not emulate the effects you have been able to turn out. Not a disappointment at all, Craig
Actually I was extremely tired, my eyes were crossing and the keyboard kept coming up and smacking me in the face (strange!) When I get a little more sleep and come back again I'll try different sorts of images, a darker one next time. That poor gal's face up there that I used looks all swollen and wrinkly... and she's only 26 in that pic

hehe, we do tend to mutilate around here
try presets 1, 18, 19 and 20, foxxee. those are probably the closest to the original image in the monster thread. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
