Since the forum system only allows one attachment per post, we have to post several topics for several attachments, which is really not useful if you e.g. want to post a series of images and/or related filters.

I'll use this thread to post attachment posts and then copy the link of the attachment for use in other posts.

Feel free to use this thread for same purpose. Simply post your attachments, right click the links, copy shortcut and then paste the link/shortcut in the related post.

They are just links - How do I make them show up? smile:?:
How did you make that 'related thread' link show up like that?

Click the "Image" button just above the text field you enter your post in. If IE blocks the popup script, simply click the notification and select "Temporarily allow scripted windows".

you could also simply paste this BB code:

[
IMG]http://img url[/IMG
]

without the linebreaks (had to do something to make the forum ignore it..)
then you simply replace the 'http://img url' with the link you copied from this thread.

Oh well I had been copying and pasting for three months before I noticed the quote button. Now I use it all the time. I *have* to start paying more attention.

Thanks! smile:D

You know what. I just realized I have never noticed that whole row of buttons beside the emoticons. I just noticed there are is a 'Quote' button up there too. I will have to check it out. smile:) smile:?: smile:D

Now I see why you need an image thread. There is no way to know the link in advance.

Thanks Sphinx.

ronvier,

would you mind if i used your kitten pic over on retouchpro.com? i'd like to submit it to the photo art section for folks to work some photo art magic on. the version i'd post is one i touched up a tiny bit, cropped, brightened, contrasted and sharpened just a bit.

Sure! do you want the raw? Actually this photo was taken in bright sunlight.
you can email me at ronviers@gmail.com if you want.
If you have a problem with Canon raws I can save it out as a high res jpg with your choice of profiles.

no, this will be fine. the posting limit over there is only 100k for regular folks and 200k for patrons and moderators. i'm a moderator over there. so, if i need it a tiny bit larger i can just upsize it a bit.

if i do use it over there, i'll post the link back here. you wont be able to view it or the results of others working on it without logging in over there, though. tends to help protect folk's works a bit that way.

and thanks smile:) it's a great pic smile:)

No. He is feral from a nearby barn. I am trying to settle him down, make him a people kitten, so I can find him a good home. I get all kinds of things coming through my pet door. I had a opossum come in twice last month and rummage through my trash. I had to lasso him with a usb cable and toss him out the window. Did you realize opossums have big teeth? smile:eek:

hehe, yes, i'm quite familiar with possums. we cornered one in a basement once. there were two of us and we were almost outnumbered smile:) he finally gave in when we started throwing things at him (we were quite young and stupid) and he went into his famous dead act. we carried him back to a zoologist neighbor, laid the possum on the porch and went around to the side of the house to find the neighbor. we found him and came back to the front porch and the possum had quit his dead act and left. the zoologist had a good laugh at that one smile:)

ok, ron; i posted it at retouchpro.com. here's the link: http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/phot...itten.html . i posted the original, the larger one you posted here, instead of my touched up version. most folks tend to like to work from the basic image. there are already some submissions of new renditions. you might want to follow it smile:)

and thanks again smile:)

hehe, i wish i could, but doug is pretty adamant about the generalized email addy's like hotmail and yahoo and so on. when allowed, they tend to bring an element to the site that isnt desired, like spam and porn links. and, we alredy get enough of those that have to be cleaned out. surely, you have an isp that gives you an at least one email box? mine gives me 10 and every isp i've ever had gives at least one.

i do know that aol emails can give trouble, but i think he's got a work-around for those, if that's what you have.

uhm, what do you have? i dont need your whole addy, just the domain.

My isp does not provide pop. My email is ronviers@gmail.com. It's not secret. If I get something I don't want I just tag it as spam. I usually get a spam every day or two. I'm a pretty small fish so people don't mess with me. Thanks for checking in to it.

ah, gmail. ok.

ok, here's what doug replied when i asked about those type email domains before:

Quote
Yep, I ban all freemail domains. I have a list of several thousand on my blacklist, and I add to it literally everyday (I added two yesterday). This is the single most important reason RetouchPRO is the pleasant place it is today.

so, gmail isnt going to be allowed. but it's not a pop3 type thing, or, at least that's my take on it. it's just if it's a freemail type, like yahoo and hotmail and so on.

is google your isp or do you have another isp and if another, does it have an email domain that isnt a freemail type?

The truth is my isp probably does offer some kind of acceptable email but it's not part of my current workflow and I do not want to integrate another client. I don't mind being banned. Here are just some of the professional forums that are able to deal with my google domain:
fahrenheitdigital, cgtalk, renderosity, highend3d, mayawiki, simplymaya, worth1000, rawart3d, filterforge, digitaltutors, vfxtalk, gnomonworkshop, thearea etc.

There are more but you get the idea. smile:|

Thanks for checking it out. smile:)

Cool Craig! It reminds me of something but I would have to hit the books to jar my memory. I like your crop. I am using it as my desktop background. Thanks. smile:)

well, thank you, kind sir and i'm flattered that you're using it as your desktop background. that, all by itself, is about the best compliment you could pay me smile:)

it was supposed to be a brushstrokes type, but it got away from me a bit. if i were doing it again, i think i'd tone down the sharpness of it a bit. but, i do like it mostly smile:)

and how interesting to put it totally against a black blackground like you did. changes a few things right away. and i'm also curious, why the stereoscopic view?

I am very happy with it as it is. smile:) I especially like the areas around the paws where the 'paint' seems to have smudged into the background – nice touch.

That is a screen grab of both monitors. For some reason XP can see both monitors but it does not allow for separate backgrounds – it just clones one to the other. I wanted to see if ff would display an image so wide - it didn't.

How did the others at retouchpro turn out?

ah, never used dual monitors. nice.

hmmm, maybe i can cheat on showing you the other pieces, but i'm fairly sure not because i think doug blocks direct linking. but, let's try it. dont respond to this reply till i say, please.

ok, didnt work. i tried with just the link and then with the link plus image tags. he's got it blocked. probably a good thing or his bandwidth would be out the roof.

maya, yes.... one of these days smile:)

you're welcome.

and whereas i dont think anyone would mind if i posted some of those images here, i've yet to ask and i'd rather go that route than start a feud on copyrights and etiquette and that sort of thing.

oh, and perhaps you know this person... he goes by 'olbaldy' on retouchpro. he said he's seen your work on worth1000 and ... hmm, let me just post his quote:

Sorry about the confusing reply. That post got edited to the point of incoherency just before I hit send. I was trying to be humble while not drawing attention to my entries at worth1000. smile8) In retrospect my entries were not all that bad considering I was a PS newb – still am. The whole idea at worth1000 was for me to better learn PS and be creative, and in that regard it was a success.
I gave up worth1000 after four of my entries were disqualified. They don't have much of a sense of humor there. smile:devil: smile;) That's a lot of work just to be disqualified. smile:cry: It was six disqualifications really but two were self imposed because I realized after the fact that I was not allowed to use a mask in the photo challenge so I had the entries removed.

Hey Craig, he's making progress – settling down a little more each day. He doesn't mind being near me now as long as I don’t touch him. Here is a quick snap I took when he was sleeping near my elbow.
I know what a sucker you are for the artsy ones so here are three more stylized ones.
Now I have to stop screwing around and get back to work.
