I downloaded and installed the Mac beta version of Filter Forge. The standalone app seems to work fine, except for it quitting periodically when downloading filters, which has already been reported.

The plug-in does not work. I need some help from a Mac user to verify that I have set it up correctly. I couldn't locate any instructions with my Mac version. I copied and pasted the FF universal plug-in into the PS CS4 plug-in folder, trying two different paths...

HD1->Applications->Adobe Photoshop CS4->Plug-ins->Filter Forge->Filter Forge universal.plugin

I also tried the following path:

HD1->Applications->Adobe Photoshop CS4->Plug-ins->Filter Forge universal.plugin

Adobe Photoshop error message: Could not complete the Filter Forge command because of a program error.

I opened a .jpeg image in Photoshop, then tried to open the FF plugin to work on the image. I got the above message.

I duplicated the background layer and tried to open the FF plugin to work on the duplicate layer. I got the above message.

What have I done wrong? Any suggestions on how to get the plug-in working in my Mac. I have no problems with my Windows version.

My system:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro3,1
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 3 GHz
Number Of Processors: 2
Total Number Of Cores: 8
L2 Cache (per processor): 12 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 1.6 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MP31.006C.B05
SMC Version: 1.25f4
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I saw the migration information on Wiki and noticed that I have no Filter Forge folder in the Application Support Folder.

/Users/UserName/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge

This may not apply to my problem, but I thought I would mention it anyway.

Thank you for your help,
Suzanne

I had this problem too. The solution that worked for me was to put the entire FF folder into the Photoshop Plug-ins folder.

Try that, and see if you can't get it working as a filter in PS.

(This has already been reported to the FF team, by the way, on Dec. 26.)

Thank Robin. I didn't hear from Bella about the license key today, so I downloaded the Mac Beta 30 day trial to my laptop so I could keep working with it. Here is what I did.

I copied the whole folder into my Photoshop CS4 plug-in folder. I think I need to delete the ppc plugin so I don't get a message from PS that one of my plugins isn't working. smile;)

I downloaded some filters in the standalone with the same problems of it crashing periodically.

Next, I tried Photoshop and the FF plugin. Same problem as in the standalone. Then, I remembered that in my Win pc I changed my downloading procedure and used the obsolete downloader. I think it is reachable from Tools>Options>Online, just check the box. That obsolete downloader worked fast and without crashes. I love it and always have. All the filters I downloaded to the standalone were also accessible through the plugin.

However, something happens in Photoshop when I try to close FF when using the plugin. PS freezes and stops responding. I have to Force Quit to get out of PS and FF. So, I end up without my selected filter applied to my image. This happen 3 out or 3 times. smile:?: I will keep working on it and report what I learn, but now I need to go to bed! smile:)

I copied the whole folder into my Photoshop CS4 plug-in folder.

On December, 31st, we've published a hotfix that should install the plugins automatically. Please download the latest version here and report the results

The latest version worked fine in setting up the plug-in in Photoshop. Thank you!

I've still had a couple of freezes when saving an image in FF, but it isn't consistent, so it may just be the size of my image. I will keep watching to see if I can identify a cause.

I tried the obsolete filter downloader using the new version and it didn't work. I went back to the online downloader and it worked fast, however, it still crashed periodically. I had more of a problem with crashes in Photoshop CS4, than in using the standalone to download filters. Again, there is not set pattern that helps me identify the cause.

When I can identify the specific issues regarding the filter downloads, I will post it here.

Hi I just prepurchased the Pro mac version, but cannot get the beta ps plugin to work..I ran the terminal app called "install plugins", and it said cant find cs2, cs3, cs4...I have cs1.

Will FF mac pluging not work with cs1? Am I reporting a bug?

Cheers

Unfortunately not. Adobe has implemented a different plugin interface in every new version of Photoshop. As for now, CS2 is the lowest supported version..

You can use Filter Forge as a standalone app.

Bummer. "As for now" - does that mean theres possible room for change there? I actually made it to this page

http://www.filterforge.com/download/requirements.html

But missed the host compatibility page..

Nevermind, its running ok as Standalone.

Thank you for the prompt response, most appreciated

In theory, yes, but we can make no specific promises about this.
