I'm not exactly certain what is happening here.
I purchased FF a few weeks ago, and it installed and worked fine.
Recently I upgraded to Snow Leopard, and now I can not get the software to install at all.
It appears to go through the install process, but the resulting directory is locked, and I cannot gain access to it.
I'm a relative noob when it comes to Macs, so am uncertain where to proceed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Filter Forge is running ok on our test machine and we have positive feedback from other users with Snow Leopard.
Probably some expert Mac users could advise you?..

Omg I can help here . I just got a Mac two days ago and was hoping the CD key transfered from my PC to my mac, it doesnt .
However back to your question, copy the folder to your desktop, and delete the old folder, sounds wierd but it works. For somereason the new OS is very, very safe when it comes to un-approved software, and FF seems to be one of those. Sucks because with the colors of FF and the amazing software they made they need to be working for mac =P. (please dont start the "Mac is overpriced discussion here.")
Have a good FF-Filled day. We walk through life building our castles but far to many cease to build the foundations.

Didn't quite work, but it got me on the right track.
I had to learn the chmod command, and give myself the rights to access the directory.
Strange how I didn't have this problem on Leopard, just Snow Leopard.
Thanks anyway.

I copied the old folder to the desktop. Then I trashed the old folder in the applications folder and emptied the trash. Then I moved the one form the desktop to the applications folder. It still didn't work for me.
I just started using OS 10.6. about a week or ten days ago. Everything worked fine until then.
I should also mention that I had downloaded and installed the FreePak. Since it didn't have all the filters I normally use I trashed that application.
What to do, OH what to do!? gholmes

Do this:
File > Get info, click on the lock in the bottom right corner and type in your password. Then, click on the privilege next to "everyone" (it will be "none") and change it to "Read & Write".
It will then work fine.

I had already done that and it didn't work.
However, I finally remembered that I have a 1TB backup Hard Drive and when i tried to open the copy that I had in there it worked just fine. So I transferred a copy over to my regular applications folder and then tried it out and worked as it is supposed to do.
So I guess, for me, the bottom line is that my original copy became corrupted. How I don't know, but my suspicions lie with the FreePak install. Just a guess on my part tho, don't have anything to substantiate it. gholmes

It seems to be a recurring issue. Something the team will prolly look into after 2.0 is up and running. We walk through life building our castles but far to many cease to build the foundations.

hi i just downloaded the version 1.0X also on SL and had the same problem. solution was to first install with the installer. if you look into your Apps folder there is a new folder for filterforge but this is marked with a red sign. then right mouse click > information > change owner to your named user account and give read write execute privileges to the folder and all files in it. that worked fine for my test version. seems to be a rights issue.
good luck ! another brained thing from elephantiX

I am wondering if you use a PC or a Mac as I do. My permissions were okay. See what I think happened above. gholmes

hi again,
i did a complete new install on the main drive of my Macbook pro. and had this behaviour. after that i installed the free packs which corrupted also the main app. it didn´t start anymore after installing the freepack. then i uninstalled everything (cleanapp) and installed again the main app. same behaviour as bevore the main installation folder in m application folder was not writable for the user logged in. so i changed the owner again and everything worked well.
thats all. now i bought the version inserted the serial and everything worked well as supposed.
