I'm creating mods for a game and i want to create animated textures for it (like flowing lava, moving water etc). So, i need a program that can create a sequence of images that can be used for a a smooth animation loop. It should be able to save the the images individually (i'll convert them to .dds so that they can be used with the game engine).
Suggestions? |

Use FilterForge and a batch render controller and a filter where you have one slider that will change the look a little but not too much between frames
- I never expected the Spanish inquisition |

yes, the problem is usualy that in most filters the next variation is completely different than the previous, so it won't look smooth enough.
I have no knowlege myself how to create filters. Eventually i'll get to FilterForge, for now i have a few other programs that im learning ![]() |

Totte means not with the variation slider but attribute sliders. Any slider that goes from 0 to 1 can have transitions. sjeiti has some wonderful videos of animated filters on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xorq3tZQTzw There are other programs to make stuff happen like in FilterForge. After Effects is a great place to start. ---- Another one that's really minor and unknown is Artmatic Pro, it's like FilterForge's oldest brother, but less known, and different. It's for mac only. |

I've tried AE before (briefly) is so extremely complex, i really disliked its interface (one of the reasons i really like FilterForge), it'd take me days or weeks to grasp it..
I dont think most filters has transistion sliders, at least not the ones i've looked at :/ I'm sure its possible, and probably quite easy, to add such a slider to an existing filter though, but i wouldnt have any idea where to put it in the chain. |

Yeah I wrote a little something for that here: http://ffbatch.sjeiti.com/
and Totte wrote a similar thing for Mac: http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...5&TID=7051 Indeed most filters are not really build with the transitions you seek since animation is not something build into Filter Forge. But it should be fairly easy to implement in most filters, with a little trial and error. (I really should add an animation guide to the Wiki) |
