i'm anxious about the upcoming 2.0 release, and i'm sure i'm not alone. now that the mac version is on its feet, i suppose this will be the next big step.

i tried searching without luck - is there a list of new features anywhere? any teaser screenshots? anything at all to appease our appetites while we wait?

I am getting pretty anxious about v2.0
Filter Forge is great, bit it's starting to feel rather limiting.
I mean no offense by that in any way...
Maybe it's my own overuse that's making it feel that way (yes, I'm a FilterForgeaholic and I'm ok with it).
FF has become one of my favourite programs and I use it almost every day.
It's the only filter program I use... way better than the other ones I've tried.
Though one of the competitors has caught my eye and am watching too see how things go... see what the FF team offers up.
It's just getting to be time for something new.
I'm still hanging on using 32bit FF patiently waiting... and I'll continue to I'm sure.
But I'd really like to know when it's going to happen.
Anyone know how the beta testing is going to work this time?
Will they even be doing that again?

ooh, beta testing. sounds fun! i think anyone who has earned lifetime upgrades should be given an opportunity to be an official beta tester for the new version smile:D

just a reminder for all us drooling fans, vlad did suggest that he might change up how they do things for developing ver 2.xx. i dont have the link to that post where he said it, but it was something like 'maybe we'll release versions that just alter or add little bits at a time, rather than try to do the whole thing at once'. so, not quite sure what that might mean in terms of time and seeing something from FF, inc. on ver 2.xx in the near future, but hopefully, if he does it that way at all, it shldnt be a three year wait smile;) then again, he did say maybe, which also infers the possibility of 'maybe not'. lol. arent you glad i mentioned all this now?

Yeah i was wondering when someone was going to post about this. It seems like a great update and they have also optimized and are adding multi core support. I actually use Genetica more these days because it's not automatic rendering and seems a faster workflow for me. FF is great at doing effects though so i use FF for those more.

I will be interested to see what happens with V2 of FF though and if they do away with the way other peoples textures can be sold by others etc. This was always annoying to know and put me off posting more snippets/library textures totally. Since i have no interest in the mac version it has seemed like a while since FF last got new node content/features so as you say it will have to be a good update. smile:D

"limiting" is precisely what we're working on, and that's the reason why we haven't released the first beta -- we're redesigning the internals to accommodate the new stuff. If everything goes right, even the first beta of v2.0 will pack a powerful punch.

I still have to see the new version of Genetica, but the previous version was disappointing if compared to Filter Forge. The images obtained with Genetica were, how to say, not.......... realistic.
I'm sure that Filter Forge 2.0 will be really great. smile;)

Well, a screenshot is a bit too much to ask at this stage, but I do have a couple of screenshot fragments to tease you with smile;). Here's the first one, a fragment of a UI element which implements a long-requested badly-needed feature:

Actually, that's surprisingly informative.
There's a colon on the left there, implying that this text field is naming something.

I dunno, Genetica 3.5 Super Pro XXL Massive Nu Lemon Fresh Edition, blows FF out of the water (and costs what 2 1/2 times as much ha-ha). But, one good thing about Vlad's direction/leadership is that - FF V2 will surely build upon what's already working/established, and he's not too into competition so much as his/the companies vision. So whatever etc., but FF 2 better rawk in a lot of good ways eh. smile:D

9 days left until they unveil v.2!!!! That's right, this isn't some kind of sarcastic post trying to force them to do what I want, they really are going to reveal v.2 to the public in 9 days... or more smile;)

You know it just makes them happy to torture us, so maybe if we act not excited then they will hurry up already...

Filter Forge sucks!!! Boooo, who really even needs v.2 anyway I mean I have photoshop who needs an awesome seamless texture creator/effects generating software. smile:D

I promise what I am about to write is not a lie or a spam... I PROMISE!

8 days left, 8 days left to get 25% discount on Filter Forge...

That's where I got the 9 days left, from the promotional counter at the top of the website. It has to be counting down to something, it just has too!

And if it isn't I want my money back, all of it smile:D

I hate to rain on your parade, Red, but according to The Discount Chart Of DOOM!, the discount counts down based on the time that passed since an individual's first visit to the FF website. However, I've been frequenting this website for almost a year (touches wrinkles on face), and logged in or not, the discount still says 40% for me. smile:?:

Here's one more. It's directly from my Photoshop UI prototype, and the programmers are currently working on its implementation. However, being a Photoshop prototype, the screenie is a little misleading -- the feature it depicts is not related to the Result component. I don't have time to redo the screen in a proper way, so here it is:

You've interpreted it exactly backwards smile:) Another attempt at clarification -- what is shown is not a separate or stand-alone version of the Result component.
