We're keeping our promises -- it's still June, eh?
![]() Regarding the new filters: we've uploaded a bunch, check the Recent Filters page while they're still on top: http://www.filterforge.com/filters/recent-page1.html These filters are also included into Filter Forge 2.0 installer, but you'll see them in your filter list only if your install is fresh (i.e. if you didn't have the beta installed.) |

The two pieces of the puzzle are: In the mail when I applied for "FF for life": We have added you to our database. As soon as we release the next major version of Filter Forge, we’ll send you instructions on how to upgrade. In the upgrade info mail: If you are eligible for a free upgrade to Filter Forge 2.0, you will be able to redeem it after the commercial release. We just have to listen to that song from the late 80s / early 90s: "All we can is just sit and wait..." / Totte - I never expected the Spanish inquisition |

Is there something wrong with the new trial version? I just downloaded it, installed it and it says that my 30-day trial period has expired

Argh, same problem as with the first beta: Installs just fine, but when I run it, nothing happens. Task manager reveals that FF2 is running for a few secs and then gone. No messages at all.
I tried uninstalling and delete everything FF related (backed up my filters), cleaned the registry for "Filter Forge" related keys and then reinstalled: same problem.. ![]() |

Windows XP SP3, AMD Athlon XP 3000+ - I doubt it is related to that, as the betas worked fine (with exception of the first release - here I had to uninstall FF1 and clean up manually, then it worked)

Sphinx:
1. What process shows up in the task manager – Filter Forge.exe or Filter Forge x86-SSE2.exe ? 2. Please try to run \Program Files\Filter Forge 2\Bin\Filter Forge x86-SSE2.exe directly. 3. Have you installed a new antivirus/debugger/any other low-level system tool recently? |

1. Filter Forge.exe and Filter Forge x86.exe show up (in task manager) when I run Filter Forge (this is an old AMD, I don't think it has SSE2). Both quits after a sec or two, without any message or exception.
2. I tried manually executing the SSE2 version, that crashes but I believe thats because I don't have SSE2. I then tried manually executing the non SSE2 version (Filter Forge x86.exe), same problem, runs for a second and quits 3. Well I have avast antivirus and some borland debugger installed (but its not running actively), besides from that nothing special - remember the betas worked just fine on this system, nothing has changed. I even tried stopping *all* non vital processes, same problem. I tried FFXCmdRenderer-x86.exe, it seems to work and I get a message about 30 days left of trial. |

Tried downloading when I got my email yesterday...wouldn't work. Deleted earlier beta files which were tucked in program files in several places (my own messy fault). Using Firefox, I tried to download. It "downloaded" the beta version about 4x which was apparently cached somewhere in my download manager from yesterday. Of course, it wouldn't open. I'd go delete then come back to do the same thing. I went back to download page just now and did a right click save as which finally worked nicely and downloaded the 47mb file instead of smaller beta file.
Sorry it's in layman's terms...it doesn't officially qualify as morning yet here and I'm sleepy. Thought I'd let you know in case it helped. ![]() |

Sphinx, do you have a 'Filter Forge x86.log' file in your TEMP folder? If yes, please post it here or send it to the support team.

Hm...
Please rename your %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 2\ folder to anything else (say, %APPDATA%\test_Filter Forge 2). Then try to run the program. |

Same problem, GMM. I tried Windows 7 and Windows XP and I get the 30 day trial has expired message on both when trying to run it. I guess I'll continue using 1.0 until the problems are resolved |

da120, do you use an antivirus/trojan blocker/any other software that may prevent Filter Forge from reading its registry entries? For instance, Comodo firewall is known for such behavior.

How can that be? The System folder contains the Library subfolder with the library filters. Please double-check. You may also need to delete %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 2\System\Cache and %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 2\System\Thumbnails |

I dont have that folder! I did a clean install, no remains of any old FF installations, and that folder is not there. However in "Program Files\Filter Forge 2\Resources\" I have a system folder with that file.. deleting the file CachedInfos.xml and Thumbnails folder there has no impact. Problem remains the same

I was having the same type of problem but have finally got it going. Instead of 'saving' the download file I clicked on 'run'. It put itself in 'Temporary Folder', where it is I have no idea, and then automatically installed FF. When I tried to start from the all programs menu FF started! The trial version opened and asked to update, I said no, and then entered my name and key number into the help file option. It registered fine and now everything is working great, it even shows the favorites I saved in the beta version. Hope this helps. There is nothing so simple that I cannot complicate it. I try to think of it as a gift. |

I'm using Avira. Disabling the Antivirus does nothing different even after reinstall. Also, nothing in the firewall settings that could prevent this from happening. As I mentioned before, this problem occurs on both, my brand new windows 7 laptop and my old window XP machine. No big deal as of now. I'll be using version 1 until a new update thx |

Did you all get emails stating the new release was ready for 2.0? I got the fail message about the app being out of date and go download. Saw that 2.0 was released but all I see a download for is the 2.0 trial version 30 day non beta. The old 2.0 beta key does not work to register but oh well, the 30 day trial is working. Sure this all be resolved soon.

I had to use Internet Explorer as Chrome don't give you the direct run option. I think perhaps it was some sort of permissions issue, dunno.. Anyways it works - StevieJ did you get that? ![]() |
