I know that the presets of the filters have included all the information needed to reproduce the saved effect of that filter, BUT what about the others options and settings that are ALSO included in the preset?

I mean that I have seen that is included in the preset

* Built-in image used

* External image used if the preset is your own and not from a factory preset

* All the settings used in the Settings tab

* Antialiasing settings that you have in that moment activated when creating the preset

* Lighting Settings of the Lightings tab

* Ambient Occlusion that you have configured in the Lighting tab when creating the preset

* Render Maps configuration

Does the filter presets STORE any other setting or configuration apart from the above ones I have already put?

Can the Presets be able to change any of the options inside the options configuration panel?

I think this is VERY IMPORTANT when making presets for speed and know what is really stored in that preset AND if the information stored is really needed and is the RIGHT setting correct.

I think you pretty much nailed it in your list smile;)
Nothing from the options menu is stored in the presets.

Thanks for the comments

So the problem here would be the Antialias (AA)and Ambient Oclusion (AO) settings that are by default in some filters when they are NOT really needed to get the effect made by the filter and is not an important and essential part of the filter

It would be as good thing if there could be an option in the FF Tools --> Options menu to override and desactivate always the AA and AO IF you want, and so all the filters that have presets with AA and AO will be desactivated automatically without having you to make it manually

Of course I know that this will harm and damage the results of some filters that really need much this options activated to work right, BUT IT´S YOUR CHOICE, so you can decide when you want AA or AO or both

As it is now all the presets are fixed and you CAN´T change any factory preset, so having an option that could overiride and automatically turn off the AA and AO would be very good to have

Like 2 or 3 people have suggested earlier in light of this: global anti-alias or whatever can be global on off switch.

Is this already included and available in FF 3.0 ??? smile:?: smile:?:

Please, can you be so kind to tell me where is this option ?

I have already turned off the checkbox of "Anti-alias sources" in Tools ---> Options ---> Rendering

BUT this seems that is NOT an option to turn off ALWAYS the Antialias, as I have checked that it is STILL working in the same way as before, and in all the presets that have stored the AA is STILL active and working in the same way, and unless you turn off MANUALLY the AA in Filters ---> Anti-aliasing you will still render the presets WITH AA.

AND then if you turn off the AA in Filters ---> Anti-aliasing, as soon as you click on a new preset that have stored the AA active, then this is turned on and activated AGAIN and you have to manually go and turn it off again, and so is the same with EACH one of the presets that have AA included.

Please, Please, if anyone knows a way that could be NOT applied Anti-alias when you click on a preset WITHOUT having to turn off each time the AA in Filters ---> Anti-aliasing it will be very welcomed

Thanks very much for your help

What Skybase ment was that it's a feature that was requested before. others also want the option to globaly turn AO and AA off, as opposed to per preset manualy turning off.

This is not a feature that exists in FF3.
Hopefully will be in FF4, maybe, togather with setting locks smile;)

Yeah AA-sources is a different function, has nothing to do with globally disabling or enabling it. smile;)

Just a simple button on the filter window would be nice.

HOWEVER, for AO there would be a need for something more specific since the settings there reflect that of the scene. So as an author, I would prefer that you keep the AO settings as-is and just render with or without it since I may have specific things happening based on the AO. If there are global settings for AO, then the whole thing can look ugly and hence people would disable it and my filter would look different as an end product. This goes with AA since sometimes I do use larger samples for certain situations. Very very specific with these settings. Most people just don't care enough to even touch them aside from turing them on or off heh. smile:p

Thanks for the comments and sorry for the confusion

I agree that would be very good to have an option for a global and total turn off of AA if you want to have it this way so this could speed up much the render time, and you can decide if you justify the possible increase in quality.

Now that the awesome, amazing and very well done Batch GUI Tool for Windows (or as it is called better in the newest and latest FFBatchTool (Filter Forge Batch Tool)) is already much more advanced and works much better and nearly without any problem, I think that knowing what is stored inside each preset is important to use in a better way this tool, as it works by choosing a filter and then the preset or presets that you want, and you can´t change them inside the tool, but you can modify the preset inside FF with the settings you need and then use them inside the FFBatchTool.

There is something I have seen that I do not understand.

Is said that inside the preset is stored the built-in image you have used, and this is true, but I have seen that this is not showing in the preset thumbnail if the built-in image is used as main image, I mean loaded through the menu File --> Built-in preview images...

When using these, they appear in the preset as transparent background, and when choosing that preset and render it, it shows the real background built-in image you stored inside the preset.

So I wonder why this is not showing in the thumbnail even when is stored correctly inside the preset?

Exactly the same happens with any other external image you can load into FF, and this does not happen only with the built-in images.
