smile:evil: Look this is getting a bit ridiculous, I use FF ALOT and love it, now I cant use some old filters are being forced to update to the 2.0 demo?? Filters that worked before now complain I need 2.0! So it seems to continue using it I have to buy it AGAIN..I find this kinda reprehensible for a software company to force its users to use the same content and pay for it again, I mean really??

Having said that you got me, I have no choice but to update since I use FF so much for my work.

The upgrade path options are confusing, maybe your trying to squeeze more money out of us by making it so, hoping we will pay triple I dont know? I currently have 'Filter Forge Basic' and want to stay at the same level, which option must I chose?

Thanks

If I understand the situation correctly, that was a bug which was patched today and released as a hotfix -- but I might be mistaken (I'm still at home thanks to a virus).

GMM or someone, please clarify the situation.

You don't need to upgrade to continue working with v1.0 -- you already paid for it, and you don't have to pay again. Let's wait until the moderators ask the programmers what exactly did they fix today, and why it wasn't announced through the news page.

But if you do want to upgrade (independently on the situation above), just follow any upgrade link from the FF interface (e.g. trying to open the Filter Editor in the Basic edition shows you an upgrade link) and chose what option you want -- this way, the page will list only the options that are relevant to you, based on your edition.

Ok thanks.
I think the issue was I recently had a HD crash and lost all my filters, so I re-installed FF. I also installed FF2 Beta just to see what its about, but trying to re-download my old filters is making me do it thru FF2 and not the original so they are being tied to the beta, which is about to expire. Thus Im unable to regain use of the old ones without having to upgrade. I do want to upgrade but just not yet
since my fund are so tight. Anyway thats my situation.

Welcome to FF wildone smile:)
I do not work for FF but just a user and creator. smile;) smile:)
I had that happen to me recently on a version1 filter I downloaded...The mac version I have not tried this on but on the windows version when downloading filters through the web pages open FF version1 before downloading and keep it open until you are done....That helped clear up the issue.. smile:)

Same thing on the Mac, as Both FF1 and FF2 have the same creator/filetype identifier, when the Web-browser tells Launch services "Please launch FF for me" Launch Services will launch the most recently installed instance (FF2) if you don't have FF1 open at the time you browse the web, happened to me several times.

(I even screwed up having different versions of FF2 beta and accidentally opened the wrong version )

wildone_106, you are not being forced to upgrade or to buy anything again. Moreover, currently we don't offer upgrades to the second version. You've got a wide range of options:

- continue working in FF1 (see below);
- ask for a free beta key for FF2 Beta that will allow you to use the beta after its 30-day trial expires;
- uninstall the FF2 Beta (and work with v1).

Indeed, when you install FF2 Beta the filter download protocol is assigned to it. To override this and make filters open in FF1 instead, please do the following:
in Firefox, select Tools > Options > Applications, scroll to the filterforge;// protocol and browse for the 'Filter Forge.exe' file in your FF1 installation.

@Vladimir Golovin: this is NOT related to issues fixed in 2.003 Beta.

I just received a pre-release notice. I think it was $50 off ($79 vs. $129) if I pre-purchased 2.0 before March 31.

Has there been a thread on this I can read? This is quite a bit more than I expected to pay for the upgrade.

Well, you can just stay with FF1. You'll be still able to use the library and get support after version 2 is released.

Just wondering will the library for V2 be separate to V1?

Not quite sure what you mean by 'separate'. FF2 users will be able to use all v1 filters. Obviously FF1 users can't open filters that contain new components, but will be still able to submit and download v1 filters.

What i mean is will it be made clear if a texture is V1 or V2 because im guessing some people will just stay with V1. So when i say separate i mean a way to tell the versions they were made in rather than just have everything mixed together.
