Don't know if this is related to the posts about my newest anaglyph filter or other posts about this similar image bug but...Here it is anyway..
![]() ![]() To reproduce Bug............ Open FF as normal...Use the "Bug Test" filter to reproduce this and make FF crash..... Choose the settings tab then select to "Load Image"..DO NOT USE THE BUILT IN IMAGES... Once this image loads save it as a preset....Now close FF......Wait a few minutes and have some more coffee......Now open FF again....Its best to use an image that might take a bit to load for a preset to buy yourself some time because you have to be quick on this net part.......As soon as FF opens and you are able to use the menus choose "File" "Open Image".......If you were quick enough you should see this on the FF Main Window...."Loading eternal images: Waiting...".....At this point if you choose to open the same image that you saved as a preset (some images did for me) FF will continue as normal but if you choose a different image FF will crash with the below error and bringing up the box below.............However if you wait until the image finishes loading before you go through the above steps then no error is produced................... I was blaming your filter for giving me problems, but it's the filter Scuffed. FF3 either freezes upon opening, or it doesn't open at all.

LarryAW, please wait for beta 3.005, the issue should be fixed then.

Thanks. Just got it and it did fix the problem. I thought I was already using 3.005, but I concede it's pretty hard to use something that hasn't been released yet.
This was the first time I ever had any major problem with any version of FF, beta or otherwise. And, the fix was waiting for me when I woke up this morning. I can complain about a lot of things. FF isn't one of them. |

Got another fun Storage Error...Same as the above dialog box...Different number and heres the way that I produced this bug...I tried some other filters as well...I am running 3.008 in trial mode...Make sure you have your "My Filters" folder clear of any filters that you are doing this with....Grab one of the filters in the fourms.
http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...sage110191 Then place in any where and double click it to make it open with FF...Then click the "Use Free Trial" tab...This should result in a crash....To repeat the crash with the same filter don't forget to delete the filter from the "My Filters" folder.... Also FF must be closed completely before clicking on a filter to open...Otherwise there is no crash..... I'll try some more tests and put my numbers back in and test the full version... Heres some more info and how to re-produce this bug....In your "My Filters" folder only put two filters...It may work with others but this is what I used....Take a fast filter and a slow filter and place only these two in that folder...Mine were these..
http://www.filterforge.com/filters/10204.html Block Party http://www.filterforge.com/filters/227.html Comic Book Before you exit completely out of FF have the Comic Book filter selected....Then open a filter (Not the same filter) by double clicking on it....No crash....Now before exiting select the Block Party filter then exit FF completely...Then open a filter by double clicking on it..(again not the same filter)....FF should now crash... ![]() ![]() edit...I just put in my reg info and still have the same results....Bug Report also submitted.... Thank you very much CFandM! Do you have any experience as a software tester?

You are welcome GMM...Experience?..Well I do like breaking software..
![]() I have been using computers since the early 90s so I do know my way around...Not really a professional tester but more of a independent code hunter ![]() ![]() ..Finding not only flaws in software but finding code that some should not legally have or sell....Some companies were happy to hear from me and some not so happy....So I always had to explain in detail how I came to my conclusions and how to re-produce those methods... ![]() So I guess in a way I can say yes.. ![]() ![]() Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

Heres another interesting tidbit about this bug...Take one of those filters that crash FF such as the block party or even the Scuffed filter...Delete every component and only add an image component and connect that to the result...Now save it....It should crash FF as described above...Weird....Still looking into this aspect since this means that its not a filter being too slow issue....
![]() All right being the curious person that I am I had to look into this a little farther.....So it looks not like a speed issue but the preview images that you save with the preset....So in order to make FF crash with this is to create a new filter with just a image component...Then sel ect the lifesaver fr om the preview menu...Now update that first preset to save that choice...Now go through the above steps to make FF crash...This will not crash FF.....Now do the same steps but instead of that lifesaver try the other preview images...The others result in a crash.....Have fun with this one...... Update....Saving preview images with the alphas including the lifesaver also results in a crash.... More Updates...Just grabbed 3.009...This bug still applies to this version as well since I posted this report after the latest build date of the 20th.. ![]() ![]() Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |
