As I have seen many errors related to "out of memory" errors in Filter Forge, and knowing that Filter Forge is limited to 1,5 GB of memory usage, I wonder if FF Inc. could make FF 4.0 a 64 bit optimized and compatible application, it could use ALL the available RAM (which in recent computer have risen from 4 to 12 GB and up to 18 GB on some, and even 24 GB) and so it would have PLENTY of RAM to use and could work much better.

I know that it was said on another thread that most probably FF will not be converted and optimized for 64 bit, so probably there is no hope for requesting for this.

But IF FF could be converted to 64 bit in hypothetical future (or paralell dimension), would it be able to use MORE RAM and be more efficient and have less memory errors?

ALSO I do not understand WHY FF ONLY USES 1,5 GB when a 32 bit application could use technically use up to 4 GB RAM ?

Fr om what I understand (Not alot smile:) ) FF uses a cutom memory managment that was programed by the dev team.
It must have some kind of a technical limitation to 1.5GB, just like there's a tecnical lim itation of 4GB for "normal" programs.

Thanks for your answer, so as you say making the FF app 64 bit compatible will not help much because the 1,5 GB will still be the same because it depends totally on the FF custom memory management that was programed by the dev team.

SO the only way would be to modify that custom memory management programming it again by the dev team so it could use MORE much memory.

So this is not a limitation by the 32 bit application, and probably would be the same with 64 bit.

Thanks for your answer

The best would be to have an answer from the FF developers team or GMM to confirm this.
