Author: Redcap. I tried to import a HDRI file but about 30 minutes later it is still importing? Is that normal? Never mind, read the HDRI import help and it says it takes a while. So lets see how long :)

  • HDRI Upload/download Library?
Author: infiniview. On the library idea since we can import our own hdri images in the format of .exr or .pfm files into FF in order to use them in our lighting choices, I just thought that if people are making their own then we could share them in the same way we are sharing filter submissions. And yes hdri as I ...

  • HDRI Upload/download Library?
Author: infiniview. I have imported a couple of HDRI images into my FF. And I was wondering if there are any plans to have a HDRI image library somewhere on the site or perhaps there already is one and I have missed it. In just playing around with this function my images were just a couple I ...

  • HDRI Import
Author: James. The lighting in FF really remings me of those HDRI lights you can download so i think it would be great if you could import your own HDRI light, if thats not going to happen a few more lights would be cool. :D

  • terminology question
Author: Kraellin. what does 'HDRI' stand for? this is in the user side in a menu, reading 'HDRI import' Craig

  • Steve's Most Wanted :)
... custom HDRIs in FF" Negative. What's the point in duplicating features already present in Photoshop, HDRShop and Artizen? Plus, don't forget that any modified HDRI must pass through the precalculation process -- try to import a HDRI via File > HDRI Import command to get an idea of how long the precalc will take. "StevieJ wrote: Option to include lighting controls with primary filter controls" This was considered during the development and rejected. Same for other common controls ...

  • allow FFENV files in forums
Author: Mongoose King. Has anyone here ever made their own lighting environment in FF? I once found a nice yummy HDRI image I liked, and did HDRI import. After over an hour of it doing it's import thing I got fed up and quit.

  • Props to FF Team! HDRI import + AO map
Author: CorvusCroax. Hey, this is probably old news, but I just came across: - The HDRI import function: handy! - The new Ambient Occlusion render map. Useful! Props to the FF team for FF2.0!

  • got a crash after HRDI import
... using a LOT of windows resources. after i created the new hdri, i made a screenshot of FF using the new environment and went into i.e. and posted this screenshot on the FF forums. i went back into psp and set up a new image to import into the FF hdri import. i saved this and went into windows explorer and changed the file type (.jpg) to .exr. i then made FF active again and hit 'import hdri' in the menu and got the attached bug report. i immediately took a screenshot of this, as sometimes the bug ...

  • Submission Error
Author: Bella. Crapadilla, how did you import your environments into Filter Forge? Did you use the Tools -> HDRI Import option only, or did you put the files from C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Filter Forge\My Environments into "C:\Program Files\Filter Forge\Environments" after HDRI Import?

  • So I made HDRI maps for FF
... having a 1000x500 exr image for use in FF. It's "recommended" according to help, but the trouble is it's pretty sluggish loading HDRI maps into FF. smile:( 400x200 loads ok, but I feel any size larger is slow" How do you load external HDRI inside FF? There is no load or import option in the lighting tab or in the menus. Or do you have to copy them here? C:\Users\SpaceRay\AppData\Roaming\Filter Forge 4\My Environments what is the original size of the built-in HDRI already available inside FF?

  • New Processing Components: Illumination, Shadow, Reflect
... wouldnt more custom or hdri filters do the job... at least somewhat? i mean, who says a custom hdri cant have multiple light sources? and that raises another question, at least for me, how much work would it be for FF itself to make, rather than just import, these custom hdri's? Craig

  • Environment Imput for Filter Type: Surface
Author: onyXMaster. The only way to use your own environment is to import it using Tools -> HDRI import. It's a lengthy process (taking tens of minutes for medium-sized images), requires a specially prepared input image (HDRI in latitude/longitude format) and produces a large output (around 2 MB for 400x200 input image).

  • Trying to import an HDRI...
Author: jffe. "Redcap wrote: I tried to import a HDRI file but about 30 minutes later it is still importing? Is that normal? Never mind, read the HDRI import help and it says it takes a while. So lets see how long " ----I did a couple at 800 X 400, and they took about an hour and a half (on a singlecore 2.4 P4), so above that, whew, could be a while eh. :D jffe

... from? " Well, there are free ones around, for example here (http://www.debevec.org/Probes/). You will have to convert them to latitude/longtitude format with HDR Shop for example. Since you would only need them at a size of 400 x 200 pixels for importing into FF these should more than suffice. Then there are many vendors of professional HDRI files, like this one (http://www.doschdesign.com/produkte/hdri/). It does help to have some quality HDRI skies around at times... :D

  • HDRI import CPU usage...
Author: meyendlesss. Will the HDRI import be able to effectively use all CPU cores? Right now it only uses ~15% max on my i7 920. http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/6163/hdriimportcpuusage001co.jpg Still gets done fairly quickly as it's running @ 4GHz, but would be great if it could ...

  • HDRI Upload/download Library?
Author: Kraellin. actually, guys, we could post them here. but we'd have to post the original images BEFORE FF converts them to hdri's. we could just post the .jpgs that we felt made good hdri's and share them that way. each would then have to render them through the import option in FF themselves, but it would be an easy way to get them to each other. one suggestion i'll make to start here is, keep your brightest areas fairly small and keep them few and far between. i seem to get better results when i've only ...

Author: CFandM. "SpaceRay Wrote How do you load external HDRI inside FF? There is no load or import option in the lighting tab or in the menus. " Its under the main menus at the top left...You will find it under "Tools" then "HDRI Import" once you load the image you want then you need to name that new light..It does take some time to import these maps so be patient as well... :)

  • Foxxee's Stone Engraver by Foxxee
Author: Kraellin. well, the problem with surface filters and lighting is actually the HDRI environments. they are not based on the source image one imports, so you get skewed lighting and therefore skewed height control. according to Ron Hubbards "Art" book (you can get this at amazon.com), there are actually eight different ways to get a depth perceptic. i'm not going to reprint that ...

  • UI and HDRI
Author: jffe. "Vladimir Golovin wrote: Regarding the quicker way to add HDRI, I'm afraid it's impossible" ----I'd swear we were told that the HDRI Import function doesn't utilize multiple cores currently though, so just adding that would make it about 2X as fast at least no ? jffe
