Filter Classes

All Filter Forge filters fall into two classes – the Texture filters that do not require any external data, and the Effect filters that require a source image and/or selection. The purpose of this division is to separate the categories for Texture and Effect filters in the user interface and on the website. Here's how filters are classed into Textures and Effects:

  • A filter is considered an Effect filter if it uses at least one component that provides access to external data, such as Image, Selection, Average Color, Minimum Level or Maximum Level.
  • If a filter doesn't use any components that require external data, it is considered a Texture filter.

In the category list, Texture categories are placed above the separator and Effect categories below the separator:

The Submit Wizard displays only the categories that match the class of the filter being submitted:
