Hello everybody, especially admin or techies around here
![]() Got a problem. Bought filter forge basic (US$ 90,-version) and used it a lot. When i opened it, it always asked me politely to check for updates, which i did. But today i got the message : "this program version is outdated and cannot be used anymore. please download a newer version". After that i get: "could not complete the filter forge 2 command because of a problem with the filter module interface" Now what???? ![]() ![]() ![]() Where is the newer version? Am busy with some art stuff and need ff to finish it! ![]() ![]() Thanks for replies cheers, barbara |

Have you been playing with FF2 beta?
That can cause this if the filters are opened in FF2, then you cannot open them in FF1(or if they are saved maybe). (I don't wprk for FF but I'm a troubleshooter by nature) Otherwise, I guess you need an answer fro GMM. // Totte - I never expected the Spanish inquisition |

that first message is the message you get with the FF2 beta version when you try to open it if you havent updated it to version 2.003. i had that recently, too. the solution is to download the newest version and install it. i installed mine right over my current FF2 version and it works fine.
dont know about the second message you got. the newer version is the beta version. the beta has been updated from 2.001 to 2.003. the current version of FF1 is 1.019 and doesnt require updating. it's a little confusing right now with two active major versions of FF out there, so, be careful with what you try to put where. also, FF2 filters, if put in FF1 will cause error messages. FF1 filters, if put in FF2 will NOT cause errors and shld work just fine. you need two separate product keys if you're using both major versions, FF1 and FF2. each needs its own key. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Please review this thread, it should contain most of the answers. In short, you can:
- continue working in FF1 by tweaking parameters; - ask for a free FF2 beta key that will allow you to use the beta after its 30-day trial expires; - uninstall the FF2 Beta and work with v1. |

Hi GMM, Kraellin, Totte and thanks for answering.
I do not want to create filters, I just love using them - that's why i bought the basic version. Everytime i downloaded updates i thought it was for filter forge basic. Could be i downloaded the beta ff 2, as i thought i had to download all the updates and new things.... Allright, since i don't want the version that creates filters - what do i do now? Before I uninstall the wrong ff, which version do I uninstall: 1) ff 1.019 or 2) ff 2.001 ?? (I know: this sounds like a dumb question ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() cheers, barbara |

Barbara, if you don't intend to create filters then FF2 is of no use for you at the moment, when there are no "version2-only" filters in the library.
You can uninstall FF2.001 Beta so it doesn't confuse you -- but make sure to check it back a couple of months later, as FF2 filters are expected to be much more interesting ![]() |
