Filter Forge 9.0 includes several other improvements, which include support for filter stacking in the plugin mode, ability to rename filters without entering the Filter Editor, and a new Note component.

Filter Stacking in the Plugin Mode

We introduced the ability to apply several filters to an image one-by-one, or filter stacking, two years ago but only for the standalone mode. Now you can do it in the plugin mode too. The feature works the same way as before: to stack filters, wait for the filter to finish rendering, then press Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V (or Cmd+C/Cmd+V on macOS) to load the result as a source image for your next effect.

Note Component

The visual node-based editor is a great way to construct filters without any coding, but even a visual structure needs some comments. Previously, visual nodes were difficult to comment on, and in Filter Forge 9 you can easily add comments in the Filter Editor via the new Note component. It doesn't have any inputs or outputs and lets you enter arbitrary text – like a sticky note on your fridge. Put Notes next to important blocks in your filter structure so that other filter authors can learn from it.

You can find the Note component in the Advanced section on the Component bar.

Ability to Rename Filters in the Main Window

Filter Forge 9 now allows you to rename user-made filters right in the main program window, without entering the Filter Editor. It's magic! To rename a filter, right-click it and select 'Rename'. Renaming is only available for custom filters, not for the ones you download from the Filter Library.
