There is something strange with this filter, or I do not know how to use it smile:?: It has some weird effects and wrong colors. smile:?:

Also I do not know why it keeps telling it needs a selection even when selecting source 1 (not the selection), and why is not possible to your own mask as a selection in a color control as an additional option ?

Also I think there are possible missing controls after looking at how is built.

Sorry, about it, I will have to see how it works .

Hi SpaceRay,

In order to use your own selection you have to

1) either:

A) have an active selection in Photoshop before running the filter (if you are using the filter as a plugin in Photoshop) or

B) load a grayscale image (white=selection) from the File Menu>Load Selection... in addition to loading an image

and

2) have the "Use Selection" checkbox activated in the filter settings.

Thanks for your answer ThreeDee, I will ask you a related thing later below

Here is an example using some organic selection shape and turning it in a more metalic liquid although keeping transparency

And using a more planned selection in Photoshop on this photo

And the beauty of this filter is that is NOT only for water, as you can change the liquid color to any other, so you could also have a red jelly smile:)

And then after I thought that if you can change the color of the liquid, would be good to have more than one color, and thought about activating the "allow images" in the color control and found that it works very well!! smile:)

So I suggest that if you want you could upadte this filter to allow images and be able to have textured and multicolor liquids too.

And also another example if it is allowed the images, is to make Liquid Fire

I love this filter and is very well done and has a great potential and many different options to customize the liquid, but I am sorry there is still one thing I still do not understand

Why you are forced to load a selection even when you do not want to use it and just use the default shape included in the preset?

If I do not load any selection it always asks for one even when I do not want it, and shows the message that is needed as shown below, this is not really a problem and is easy to solve just by loading ANY grayscale selection and do not activate it.

That message seems to happen with any filter that uses External Selection. I guess it is there to remind you that the filter can use that component. But you don't have to use a selection. Just ignore the warning if you want the default image alpha channel or no selection at all. Works just fine.

OH! is true I thought that you were forced to have a selection otherwise you could not save the result, but is true that even with the message active you can use it without a selection, sorry that I did not know it. smile:blush:

I'm a late addition to this discussion, but I was pleased to discover this in the Library, after coming across references to it in the forums. Nice work!
