Thanks! I am now writing a version on steroids (with 2 gradiants instead of one for the brush directions + brush stroke jitter + possibly imported brush shapes). I could write a book on the variations possible. If anyone is interested I will do a more extensive writeup of the filter. This was inspired in part by the now defunct XaoS Tools Paint Alchemy, which was the only filter I know of that could do automatic paint swirls anywhere in the image. Also some features of the difficult to use Corel Painter are here as well. I've attached a reduced size image using my new filter (alpha version, missing features, working title Swirly Van Gogh).
