Thanks Ghislaine. You might try adjusting the Levels in Photoshop (or whatever you use) before running the filter. Most digital photographs come out dark to some degree and just need the "white point" adjusted (and the gamma sometimes). Let me know if you want the parameters I used to adjust the original on my test.

beautiful cat and lovely example of the filter, and also this shows also how the previews and presets of a filter may be misleading and confusing, and not showing the real power and what can the filter really do

Thanks for the comment. Presets are tough with an edge based filter. Edge detection gives different results for different sizes of the same image with the same parameters. So the preview can be misleading. A lot of my testing was on real world photos to get a better idea how the filter really works. Here is another cat example.
