Nice idea!
![]() Some additional controls would be nice, like shadow opacity, reflectivity and reflection blur etc. And maybe there could be some actual depth to the polaroid itself? Oh, and I think this filter deserves having its name capitalized, like 'Polaroid'. ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

It's funny. This is another one of those ideas I had but never got around to realizing.
I guess I need to dedicate one of my days off to FF. ![]() |

Well, sometimes I just make a filter because I actually need it for a project. This was a hasty job though and it could do with some refinement I agree.
I'll put in some more sliders for the shadow and light stuff. Maybe some folding or aging cracks. Crapadilla: what do you mean by 'actual depth to the polaroid'?... perspective? |

Well, obviously polaroids aren't infinitely thin in reality but have some real depth to them, distinct edge characteristics, surface qualities, etc. So I thought it might be nice to emulate that in the filter. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Just a personal preference here, but I would keep the filter focused tightly on the 'Polaroid' theme. There is always the danger of watering down the filter's 'area of expertise' by adding in unnecessary effect garnishes... ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

True... let alone slowing down the rendering speed
![]() But some degree aging does make it more realistic. Don't worry I'm just going to try and scratch it a little. I had already put in a slightly darker edge around the actual image then I saw these edges have some discrepancy in YMCK values... much nicer ![]() |

That's quite a gain in realism, but...
![]() ...to me, it looks like a photo glued to cardboard now. But I like the scratches! ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Well maybe that's because in this case the paper reflectivity is low and the paper texture high (and maybe the photo edge).
I'll submit as soon as I've redone the presets. ( ohno, as soon as I get another license key ![]() |

Thanx and you're welcome! The backstory behind that piccie is in the online world of Second Life, Residents are following my Video Tutorials and making flags. Lots of fun and a fellow named Madcow Cosmos took some pictures, so I had some fun making them more lively.
![]() I've found Rotated Polaroid is a relatively slow filter; is that to be expected? I only know what I've read from the comments above. I like how easy it is to vary the very-useful presets, to come up with subtle variations and tilt and tile them. I suppose next comes the part where I load a Polaroid'ed image into ArtRage 2 and scribble a caption with the natural media marker tool! Ahhhh to put my fave tools together. nice looking filter. my only snag with this one is, polaroids tended to be very non-glossy, flat or matte finished. i used to have one, so i know what i'm talking about here. the reflections would be very dull on a true polaroid, very diffuse.
but then, i shld also qualify that a bit too. the popular ones, the cheapies, were like that. they had a fixer you had to apply to the image one taken and developed. this kept the image from fading and deteriorating but also left it very flat. so, it may be that the more expensive ones did have a better reflective quality. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I have another comment: is there a way to get this to work with non-square (e.g. 4:3 aspect ratio) photos? I tried applying it to one, and the end result looked cut-up, and not in a desirable manner. Thanks.

Hi Sjeiti. I love this filter, but I think I am having the same problem as Torley. When I went to use it with a rectangular photo, it added extra by repeating some of the photo and made it a reallly long photo. Wierd - if this works best with square (which I haven't tried yet) I would have thought it would do the opposite and chop the long photo down. Hope you can work this wrinkle out.

WOW! I have missed this amazing and awesome filter that make such a beautiful and realistic mini polaroid photos from bits of your source image, and it also has bending and lights reflections, very good.
And when you reduce the Size pixels slider, you get much more tiny polaroids to give an even better cool effect, the only problem I may find is that perhaps they are too separate from each other, BUT this is not a problem as you can render 3 different variations with transparent background and then mix all 3 in Photoshop and be like they one on top of each other. And looking inside it is a complex filter Thanks Here is one example ![]() |
