It's nice looking, but what is it ? Not to get down on you in particular or anything, but aside from the devs on here, I tend to push people to try and make filters that do something specific. Random shapes and colors can look cool, and I've done a few myself, but they havta be way above the norm to even get noticed these days. Just something to think about when making filters, maybe go for something specific, and/or new if you can. smile:)

Hey jffe, try applying the filter to different images and see what you get smile:) It does just follow the tone curve of an image and uses details from the lighting affects. If you look close, you can see the trees, doors, windows etc that are in the reflections. Do you know how to change this so that I can add my own details from textures and gradients in the reflection areas?

As far as I am concerned....if it looks beautiful, it is beautiful....no matter how you create it. One of my photography professors fell absolutely in love with one of my pictures, but then did not like it anymore after he found out it was printed from a manipulated digital image.....

----I think you can import those HDRI reflection/lighting thingers into FF, but you have to buy those seperatley from other companies etc. Someone on here (a reg) has done it, maybe they'll wander by and offer more details.
----I wasn't complaining about your filter in particular, just saying, a good goal, is always to fill a gap, something that hasn't been done already. No worries either way, we can all earn a free copy of FF, it's not a competition, making more specific filters is just an idea is all. smile:)

----Digital "art" in and of itself, is pretty valueless really, unless you are working for a graphic arts company, or a videogame designer etc. Unless you print them out and frame them, no one can buy one, or really even see it at a gallery. It's a problem we all face these days, what to do with the 8,000,000 cool images we made on our computers. If you find a solution for that problem, please post it ha-ha, I'm sure we're all wondering what to do with our graphics. smile:D

Hey jffe, there's no edge on anything I say. I better choose my words more wisely or no one will ever want to critique my work smile:)

----No worries on my end, I gave volde the bizness when he started posting 4-5 filters a day for a while too. People should do what they want to do, ultimately, but, if ya'll ask for opinions/advice/etc., then yeah, people like me might throw our $0.02 in, and we can't all always agree. I don't mean to rip on anyone when I comment on their stuff, I'm just saying what I think etc., and maybe they can glean something from it, or just ignore the cranky guy ha-ha. smile:D

What is most advertising now...Correct me If I am wrong but most if not all images are
manipulated in some fashion be it by hand or digital.

Anyway I like this filter also, you could have a little running series of Glass and or
Blown Glass with this..

Hey jffe, top of the morning to ya smile:) Believe it or not, I want you to rip into my work because it will help me make it better. I will defend it at first....then I think about it.....and then I say to myself "hmmm, maybe they were right about that....".

Feel free to rip me a new one anytime smile:)

Hey CFandM, I realized that you are my FF idol yesterday smile:) Your "Langrangian Twist" is by far my favorite and is the end-all-to-beat-all of where I want to go with my filter making....3D appearing vortex tiling, algorithm effects, etc.....applying the color, glass, chrome effects....I can't wait smile:)

Thanx for the site.....

I am currently working on an filter that turns images into 3D glass. I basically have it, but I'm having some trouble with minor high-pass spots appearing in the lighter areas. I think that I need to do some curve work at the beginning to correct this......

there is a thread where i described how to do the custom HDRI environments. it's pretty easy. in fact, i got the data from another thread in here and just wrote it up in a more tutorial fashion. i've done several.

i think you also asked, maybe in your other thread, about swapping filters with others. yes, you can. the easiest way is, if the file is 250k or less, just post it here in the forums as an attachment to your post. over that size and you'll need to send the file by e-mail, instant messenger or some other means.

most FF files are under 300k and probably most under 250k. so posting here is the easiest and we all get to take a look 'under the hood'.

your 'my filters' folder, where YOUR filters are (not the library filters), is in your system folder (usually C:\, 'your windows account (whatever account name you use to log into windows), docs and settings, application data, filter forge, my filters.

i'd love to see this one.

It sure is fun getting there. The cool thing about FF is even when you get sidetracked
with other filters there might be an idea in there that you can put in another filter to make it even better...Thats where "Langrangian Twist" came from.

Definitely, I have found alot of neat things just experimenting around. The problem is that I keep finding something better all the time and my focus keeps shifting before I finish the one I was working on. Today, I started making a conscience effort to finish what I have started before moving to the next filted. As a result, I finished three filters today....

Is there a way to cut out bad portions of different lighting modes?
