just a bit more abstraction than i'm used to making. is there any way to cut the effect down a bit?

I was playing with better colour control, but Kraellin has got me thinking about greater definition of original pic which I had in earlier prototype but discarded allowing the abstraction to dominate....... I've attached a test pic from earlier version. I just got to rememder how I had it setup............ no that doesn't go in there.........if I just put this over here........ I'm sure that wasn't upside down...............

Nice job, my only critique is that you've got a bit of a diagonal bias going on (top-left to bottom-right). I haven't looked inside your filter but this usually occurs when you use the same map for both the horizontal and the vertical inputs of an offset component.

Carl one way to get around that diagonal issue is to use a different tone curve connected to a random noise curve for each offset.
