i think this one needs more work, red. it's too 'clean'. burning is messy. it leaves ragged edges and charring isnt that smooth. it's grainy and scattered. this looks like someone drew it on. it's too even, clean and smooth. #6 heads more in the right direction, but isnt quite there yet either. so, i'd work with this one some more and re-submit.

That is interesting that this is the second time I have heard this comment on my burning effects. I am more than glad to change it, because the people are always right: however, with that said- before making this filter I did some research and the burning of all the paper I saw was indeed very smooth, almost like water creeping through paper when you dip an edge into a cup, so I went with smooth.

If you and others want rough; however, and that is what you would use: I will more than happily oblige. Thanks for the feedback, I need as much as I can get.

well, you may be right about the burning, so i went out and ran some tests. there's basically about 3 different areas in the burned area. the part closest to the unburned part is actually more brown that black and very thin. the burned part (middle) is black. and the completely burned out part on the outside edge is flakey, black and missing pieces here and there, giving it that jagged look. and this last part has a tendency to curl too.

so, basicially, what i see in your filter, is the middle, black part, but no brown inside and no jagged, black, curled outside. and i think it's that last part that really makes for a convincing burn in paper.

Brown paper - I tested it on actual parchment and discover that you can get 3rd degree burn from a burning sheet of parchment smile:D
