Like it very much, but...

...the mortar looks strange. If you ask me, I'd say it should be more like in Mike Blackney's "Classic Floor Tile". smile:D

Beautiful work. I especially like the way the source image is embedded into the tiling.

Thanks...

Yeah ok... I'll work some more on the mortar (I spend hours on my toilet checking out the mortar).

The effect I tried to make is
- one that is not so grainy: lots of times the mortar itself is painted over. But maybe I should put in more control for that.
- it should also be uneven (as if parts of the mortar are chipped away)
- and lastly I wanted the mortar height influenced by the tile. It should not be just flat. In real life it is either curved upward or downward, but never flat.

Maybe I should go check out other peoples toilets.

Maybe you could also break up the uniformity of the small 'stone noise' cracks a bit (by masking them with some perlin noise on a larger scale, perhaps)?

Hehe. Maybe all it needs is more roughness overall. It appears to be a bit too blurry in my opinion. smile:)

Just noticed the scratches are wrong too... they should end when the curve of the tile starts. I'll try and update it tonight (if my girlfriend lets me). Gotta work now smile:-(.

marvelous look. i'd put the scratches on a toggle... on, off. the underlying work is too good to scratch! and i agree about the grout. in most of those presets there doesnt seem to be any. it looks more like the tiles are still on a mesh they were sold with and not grouted at all.

but, an absolutely brilliant piece of tile work on this!

Nice one on the cracks & scratches, but the mortar/grout still doesn't seem 'right' to me... smile:dgrin: smile:devil:

Maybe it's because of how the tiles are embedded into the mortar: it's a perfectly clean edge. In reality, there should be a little bit of irregularity going on there, which is why I like how Mike did the mortar in his Classic Floor Tile.

much better!

actually, dilla, grout on a truly professional job will be very regular, very clean and very smooth with the tiles all set an EXACT distance apart. there is a tool you use for this to get a very regular line. on amateur and older grout, what you say is quite true, though.

Heh smile:-) ... thanks... but no, I've been stuck at four for ages.
I'm hoping the Christmas balls will skyrocket since I upped that one a bit too late last year (just a few days after christmas).
