Do I read a little bit of sarcasm there, or is my internet-detector malfunctioning again? ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

not sarcasm, but definitely a reference to the noise lab discussion where i asked if you'd post some of your noise filter experiments

ok, i had a look at the filter, dilla. i added two controls. i added a distortion control on all three noise distortions (one control controlling all three) so i could vary the pattern more and i also added a brightness/contrast after the offset and ran that to the height in the results component and put a control on the contrast and did nothing to the brightness. that allows for more smoothing of the effect.
i'm NOT suggesting you do this as an update. you can if you wish, of course. i just wanted a bit more effect and a bit more control. so, it just extends the range of the filter without changing the base effect or presets. it's a cool filter. i particularly like the clay effect. that was something i had tried to get months and months ago and gave up on. that was before 'noise lab' and i dont even remember how i tried to achieve that look. all i remember was that i didnt get it and decided to put it aside for a while ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Thanks, all.
I would certainly consider it. However, I'm not clear about the purpose of the B/C after the Offset. Couldn't you do something similar with the 'surface height' slider under the lighting tab? Furthermore, I'd need a good name for the 'distortion' control. 'chaos' is already there... --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Very good example of how using Filter Forge You can make photorealistic textures
And I still don't know what's impossible for FF... We're limited only with our fantasy. |

Nope, you need a 'crapadilla' slider for that! The 'craig' slider does what you suggested above: tweak the distortion parameter in order to give a wider range of plaster surfaces.

The randomness of patterns and relief is excellent!!! I'll definitely put this one to good use

Updated:
- Added a 'Detail Level' slider that controls global noise detail. At the default of zero (which is adjusted for the default image size of 600x600) the filter is now significantly faster without visibly sacrificing too much detail! --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |
