i also posted this in the user gallery because i wasnt sure it would be up in time for Christmas smile:)

Merry Christmas!

the filter will work best on landscapes. there are only two controls, 'Accumulation' and 'Snowfall Amount'. it is called 'first snow' because it leaves all the color of the original but simply piles the white effect on top of that. so, if you have a picture of a flower, the flower is not going to be wilted; it will simply have some white on it as if hit by a sudden, premature snowfall smile:) the internals are adjusted such that the lighter areas of your image will receive the most white and leave the darks more for contrasting.

you're welcome, CF smile:)

no snow here for the holidays. we had a tiny bit a week or so before, though. global warming is definitley going on. we used to have a lot more snow around here than we do now.

I will admit that weather patterns have gone to some extremes over the past three or four years.....3-4 foot snow storm a couple years ago.....we had a couple of 75-80 degree days in January last year and went to the beach.....and drought conditions last summer drying up the reservoirs..... smile:|

You'll have to excuse me.....I just have a problem with the hypocracies of Al Gore.....and giving that knuckle-head a Nobel Peace Prize.....when sea levels have not fluxuated more than 6 inches in 100 years (which would have risen a hell of alot more than that if anything he said was true).....and the polar ice caps have built up well beyond normal this year. Don't get me wrong.....I do believe that the destruction of the rain forests and air polution are having an effect on climate.....and do need to be addressed.....but not by Al Gore flying around in private jets and limos adding to it.....just to self-flatuate himself..... smile;) smile:)

hehe, well, there's an old saying that goes something like if you want to raise some money, scare someone. and that may well apply here. but i also saw a very interesting PBS show about ice core samples taken at the poles and how they can track co2 and other greenhouse gases, the history of, through those ice core samples. and, that one guy had tracked all those back for 4000 years. every time some volcano erupted and spewed tons of those gases into the air or any other event creating huge amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, the relative temperatures of the planet went up following that same graph and the caps and other places started to melt. and, based on that, i think it would be pretty silly to just ignore that kind of data also.

so, maybe in the future, i shld amend this new filter to take global warming into account smile:)
